Eden, what do you think about the new harrypotter series? My honest thought is they're trying to replace all the old actors (might especially her). But what do you think?

Anonymous said...

I love that Emma is so pretty and looking healthy, in that photo.

Eden said...

I don't think they mean to replace the actors. I think they just want to make money.

I wonder where this photo was taken from. The landscape looks wonderful - Ricky

it look like red nose day parody tbh especially nick frost as hagrid it just look hilarious miscast

A TV show series just doesn’t have the same impact as a movie, no matter what people saya movie series feels more universal. Trying to replace the original cast, especially in a franchise that’s already so divided, is risky. Many fans are attached to their nostalgia and won’t be happy, especially when legendary actors like Alan Rickman, a true monument of cinema, were part of the originals. Honestly, it feels impossible, and I think it’ll fail, especially with the season dropping two years later due to post-production and actor schedules.

I don’t like the man that much but I will say I agree with him when he says that she’s a queen.
And it’s a pretty good picture!
I saw somewhere where people were arguing if it was a new picture or not I just think it’s an older picture and he’s advertising his photography skills.

Ahhh the show..
I wish they would come up with something else because the Harry Potter universe is so big they could’ve continued on with something else instead of just doing a remake.
I feel like a remake is way too soon!
I would’ve loved if they’ve dug further into the marauders or Hogwarts life when Harry’s parents were there.
But just wait until one of the new actors decides to disagree with something the author doesn’t agree with, and then she shuts them out too. Oh boy!!

The Harry Potter fandom is truly absurd. They hate Hermione stole the spotlight from the boys in the movies, so they blame Emma and the writers. They’re satisfied with the TV series’ girl because she better fits the book's description, and since she's not as pretty as Emma, she won't steal the spotlight.

I am not Eden, but I am looking forward to the series - at least at the beginning. I thought the movies with the trio were wonderful, and I think the series can also be excellent if the creators stay faithful to the source material. That is why people want to see the films, because J.K. Rowling created a wonderful world with much more potential. I think they should remain close to the descriptions in the books because these presentations of a character, in terms of appearance and character, fit what is written in the book. Every description in her books is a step into the widening of the plot. I have decided that if the movies begin to get into woke themes - whatever they may be - I will not continue watching. I am interested in seeing the author's piece of literature stay true to the material. I agree that the first movies are great, but a new generation is coming along. Young people want to see their generation. In my day, I could care less about Spencer Tracey or a Marlon Brando or even a Brad Pitt.

Photo looks like it’s from the group bday trip to Rwanda a few years ago to see the gorillas.

“They” being a tiny amount of people… Emma is beloved by the vast majority of HP fans. The goodwill towards her is generally off the scale.

Anonymous said...

As always, Emma looks just wonderful in this photo. I love her with every fiber of my heart.

Anonymous said...

I think I feel like the majority of fans towards the new series, in that I’m not hostile to it, but I feel very underwhelmed at numerous aspects of it and am therefore pretty indifferent.
I’m sure the tv show will do alright, it’s following a very set format. It’s not like a film where they need to make lots of creative decisions and need a good box office. They’d have to mess it up catastrophically.
But decent won’t be enough to me. I’ll stick with the films.
The best of luck to the kids though, I very much hope that they come through it all ok.

I certainly don’t think WB are looking to replace the actors or the films at all, they still want to make money from them. JK likely does, but I think WB have just run out of original ideas and want some content for their streaming service. They also learned the wrong lesson from the failure of beasts. Beasts failed because it was bad and JK can’t write scripts - Not because people only care about the original characters and story. People just want good shows and films and they appreciate original stuff more if anything. But WB are being cowardly.

Anonymous said...

The adult cast for one is massively massively underwhelming. Also I thought they did a really good job cutting superfluous things from the books to get the movies. No casual fan is about to watch 10 hours to get what is mostly filler so any idea that they’d replace the movies is madness. At Christmas people will stick to the movies. And to me the filler certainly isn’t worth the absolute millions that they’ll have to spend each episode. They should spend the money on creating something something new. At least the “new” Spider-Man is a re-imagining. This isn’t needed. But as above I wish the children super well!

Anonymous said...

They are using the same sets and costumes. Like why bother?? And Nick Frost, god bless him, is no Robbie Coltrane. But anyho Em looks terrific in the pic!!!

Anonymous said...

Photo with significant cleavage and presumably referring to her as a Queen.
All that's missing is his Jay Shetty voodoo doll.

Anonymous said...

He was posting loads of photo portraits he’s taken of people. I know you’re joking, but some people will take this out of context.

That One Guy said...

Not sure what there is to dislike about Hassan. He seems to just be her friend? At worst, an entourage hanger-on. There are way worse parasites that glom onto celebirties.

Anyway the new HP series look horrible and will fail within a few years. It's a cheap streaming production, absolutely won't stay on schedule, and will damage those kids' lives and careers badly. WB is a failing studio being bounced from owner to owner, and this is a cash grab to juice their value for Paramount, not the labor of love David Heyman's original production was.

For Joy Killer Robot, it's absolutely about replacing the original trio. I don;'t know how much influence she has on the production, but that is her primary motivation.

If you do watch this series, you gotta at least admit to yourself that it's cool with you if Rowling uses the money you give her to hurt trans people.

It’s an old pic by someone who has the hots for our emma!!!

Anonymous said...

why is the colour grading and lighting of the new show dark and grey and washed out compare it to one scene from the first few hp movies and its night and day

dunno how badly film cameras and cinematography look today, the overly digital feel so lifeless so bland

where is the warmth of the picture and the whimsical vibe...i hate modern film making all looks like this seem boring empty joyless style

Anonymous said...

Yeah thats fair...even just look at Edens bored Hermione picture on the side of the blog and look how warm the colour grading is on the picture. People can't shoot anything nicely any more and if they do post-production seems like it destroys it.

Anonymous said...

Hassan pic of emma actually has better color than the show and make her skin look amazing very nice tone, a guy with phone camera doing better job than hollywood now LOL

That One Guy said...

That photo looks excellent. Her freckles. The pose. The halo of light around her.

You may just be depressed, dude...

Anonymous said...

what? im talking about the hp show terrible style

Anonymous said...

She looks so beautiful in that picture.

The new Harry Potter series feels a bit rushed. It feels very similar to the original films, with only small changes and some added scenes from the books, as there doesn’t seem to be a clear reason for it to be remade. The original movies are still widely rewatched, and this seems aimed at attracting a new audience and boosting revenue from parks and merchandise, especially as JK has lost part of her audience. It will likely get strong views at release, but it will be interesting to see if people rewatch it or return to the films.

Anonymous said...

I expect a decent start but I’d give it 3 seasons, 4 max.
I also think people will always watch the films regardless. A two hour film is infinity more watchable and accessible than a 8 or 10 hour series.

Anonymous said...

Eden. I hope I did not suddenly start a trend in your comment section, because of complaining about Jay Shetty his business scheme and using celebrities for it and even smart people falling for such an actual ethical monetary incompetence that he, not them, subliminally tries to sell as guidelines as well? It's not only one celebrity being prone to be used for that for being too good-hearted, so. Cults, even new ones to arise, always work like that and they are basically about paying the upkeep of the supreme leader.

Anonymous said...

Why are you putting this here when there was already a discussion on this in another thread. Just wholly unnecessary.

Anonymous said...

Yeah you pretend to apologize but are clearly just attention seeking by putting stuff in two threads!

Anonymous said...

And, Eden, my dear, I am not being paid for guidance with anyone. I'm being paid for plain honest opinion that anyone does not want to hear at all, not even 'supreme leaders' who‘d appreciated it to be kings instead. It's not just one celebrity at all, also with this Jay Shetty business scheme and who were ought to be smarter than that if they really insist on ethics. Money makes the world go round. Unfortunately.

Anonymous said...

If you don’t like him that’s fine. You don’t need to keep posting about it everywhere. As above it’s annoying to others.

Anonymous said...

Please be quiet.

Anonymous said...

Euphoria's a good example to look at. It's last season started at 19 million viewers and ended with 6 million (this is streaming so these aren't unique views). I suspect the same will happen with HP. People will tune in for the first couple of episodes out of sheer curiosity and then move on. Warner Bros will only mention the first part.

Anonymous said...

think you clicked the wrong thread rambling person

Anonymous said...

Guy. Or girl. I just did not want to spark a controversy on this blog that haters of this blog, and of Emma Watson, covertly use to spread hate against her and that nobody must and should fall for either.

Anonymous said...

So far there’s been a 2-minute trailer and a behind the scenes video. It’s rather premature to make any real claims about what the series is, or isn’t, going to looK like, feel like etc.
Personally Game of thrones proved that fantasy series belong on TV, not movies, as it allows room to breathe, you don’t have to condense or cut anywhere near as much and the world can be explored (obviously a Song of Ice & Fire is a lot more detailed & elaborate a world than Harry Potter, but the point still stands).

Anonymous said...

Why would a studio be ‘trying to replace the old actors’? That’s ridiculous. That’s only fannish petty nonsense.
They’re trying to make money, and really a lot of fans have been calling out for years for a TV series that could allow more of the books to be filmed and shown on screen.
Lots of people won’t watch it because of Rowling, or because of a weird sense of loyalty to the movies, ur realistically lots will. The Rowling factor isn’t a factor at all in some of the hugest markets like China and India

Anonymous said...

As a disclaimer, please don’t actually bother the poor man…

Now don’t get wrong this really pretty picture of Emma… But how do convince Hassan to drop pictures of the peoples babygirl (Sofia)? Because I’m pretty sure he has at least one.

That One Guy said...

Dude, that's me being a dick with no reading comprehension. You are correct. The show looks like ass. My bad.

Anonymous said...

Well the OC won't appear in any HP again so yes you could say that. The show will also do all the books. Only have to look at the behind the scenes they are in it for the long haul. Then at some point the new trio and cast will do movies or further book adaptations. But people thinking this will run for 3 or so seasons are crazy. Just look at the views for the trailer and behind the scenes. This is going to be the biggest show in the world for years.

Anonymous said...

Yes.We need some more Sofia content. She’s too adorable - Ricky

Anonymous said...

For now, there isn’t any real material from the new series to say that the people who watched the trailer and the behind the scenes are its own audience. That audience belongs to the books and the films, and they’re just curious to see what this new show is.

Its actual audience will become clear after the 3-4 season and over time. The idea of doing this for 10 years, and then continuing for another 10 with more stories, starts to feel a bit repetitive. It makes you wonder if they will ever invest in new stories, or if we’ll just keep watching the same thing again and again… which is a shame.

Anonymous said...

Marketing companies pay to put their trailers in people's feeds. I wouldn't take trailer views to mean much.

Anonymous said...

As well as numerous pictures, and it’s more than enough for me to make quality judgements. As others have said I wish and hope the best for the kids but it lots garbage compared to the movies.

Anonymous said...

Then why on earth do you keep banging on about it?

Anonymous said...

I think the person saying this will be biggest show in the world for years is completely deluded. And then to say that the new cast will go beyond that and make movies etc is then absolutely beyond unhinged. They’ll incredibly lucky if this cast even finish this series as it’ll take so long (and that’s if it gets to end). Pigs will fly and hell will freeze over before they then go on to make films. They’ll be beyond sick of it and want lives.
Mark my words. It will launch with a big bang and then die after a few seasons. Save this comment.

Anonymous said...

In the UK and Ireland - WB are giving HBO max for free with lots of subscriptions to try and get its audience numbers up on launch. When or if people have to start paying for it, how many keep it will be interesting. The behind the scenes and trailer come up at the top of the homepage and are huge. I watched it out of curiosity and then accidentally clicked on it several times. I’d imagine loads of others did as well. I have no intention of watching the actual series. Though I’d imagine the first one will do well. It’ll go like rings of power viewers wise after that I think, though with less outrage as this will just be a painting by numbers adaption with no risks. So boring.

Anonymous said...

Yeah and Game of Thrones despite being terrific quality at the start fell on its ass at the end. The showrunners got sick of it as did the cast and wanted to do other things.
GoT also lasted that long and got such an audience as it gradually built momentum through quality and terrific word of mouth between seasons. It went from relatively known books to massive as it hadn’t been adapted before so was totally fresh and there was no other fantasy or series like it on tv at that time. It was appointment viewing. Compare that to loads of the world has already seen Potter. Because of that It’ll likely start massive due to curiosity. But asking people to stick with something they’ve already seen for what will be 10 years is an enormous ask especially in a crowded market. It won’t do longer term.

Anonymous said...

The new series has failed to land any major star beyond John lithgow. That tells you a lot. They’d have tried everyone. Stars wanted to do the audio books through nostalgic love of Potter. But they were not prepared to do the show.

Anonymous said...

It's made to exclusively replace the trio in Merch sales and likeness deals we know jkr is fully hating on them and especially Emma at this stage and will never not be mad about them being against her and is this petty.

Anonymous said...

The HP movies are very good movies but poor adaptations of the books since Goblet of Fire also lots of people are excited about the tv show and some people here can't accept it because Arabella will be Hermione

Anonymous said...

Emma hasnt been Hermione longer than she was hermione at this stage and people still follow her so that is not an issue people just think its a lame rehash with worse quality production

Anonymous said...

Things get cut for good reason,
either it ruined the pacing or was simply bad,
more isnt always better.

Anonymous said...

hassan its over bro stop clinging to the past

Anonymous said...

been wondering what emma and the rest get paid every time those films get licensed to a new tv network/streaming service or have anew blu ray 4 re-release
do they get paid every time?
i bet JK wants a ne wthing to replace all those deals but thats only part of it the main thing is WB want a new cast
who can come back for years and years of legacy sequels
now the old actors dont want to be seen near the series or in case of older cast have passed away.

Anonymous said...

It’s WB who wanted to recreate it and most people realize it’s a cash grab

Anonymous said...

My view is nothing to do with Arabella. She’s a good little actor. I’ve been to the stage show and personally enjoy seeing other interpretations of Hermione. You can say the show will be a huge success here all you want to but the comments that you dismiss as out of jealousy will highly likely be proved right. I hope you’ll be alright then. Most HP fans are lukewarm to the idea of the tv series and treating it with mild curiosity at best. Loads are indifferent and casual fans won’t commit to 7 series. You’ll find the opinion here in the majority of places. nobody is saying it’ll fail immediately or that Arabella will be terrible, people aren’t being petty. They are giving balanced longterm views that the odds actually favour.

Anonymous said...

THIS ! they will launch it in a blaze of glory and it will die around GoF. Which is around when most franchises die. The Potter movies were an exception to the rule, and Beasts proved the rule again. It might limp on longer as it won’t have public box office numbers but new Paramount ownership won’t pour zillions into something without reward.

Anonymous said...

1000% - they did such a good job in the movies of cutting out dross and keeping pacing. And whilst I missed things like SPEW at the time, I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older that putting that stuff in isn’t with the time or money. Most fans aren’t book purists. If they want the books they’ll reread them. They want to sit down for a couple of hours and be entertained. WB should have used the money for new content.

Anonymous said...

Given that he lives with her I’d imagine they’re alright.

Anonymous said...

Most fans want good movies though rather than a play by play book rerun. They can just read the books if they want that.

Anonymous said...

Yes the comment on it just being about Arabella versus Emma is an insult to most people’s intelligence

Anonymous said...

We’re talking about the series, not Hermione or Arabella. Hermione hasn’t only been portrayed by Emma Watson, other actors have played her in theatre too. Emma last played Hermione 14 years ago; she’s moved on and probably prefers to keep it as a good memory.
And it’s unrealistic to think these new kids will be stuck with these roles forever. They’re only 11, they’ll grow, change, and have goals beyond Harry Potter.

Anonymous said...

Stuff like the camping in the books went on forever. It was terrible. They cut it right down in the films but the reviews still were that they didn’t cut it down enough !!!

Anonymous said...

I reread the books a couple of years ago and the SPEW stuff is just padding, it doesn't go anywhere. It's empty character building to make her seem more empathetic than the boys, but the story never uses that.

Anonymous said...

I think I also only missed S.P.E.W and perhaps Peeves. They shot peeves for the movies but apparently it looked ridiculous and didn’t fit the tone so they cut it. It’s on some DVD extras

Anonymous said...

He lives in her London house, she mostly lives in Oxford.

It’s only about an hour drive between the two in good traffic. I’d imagine she’s back and forth a lot.

Anonymous said...

Still lives with her whenever she’s in London. Which would still be a lot.

I had high hopes of launching a philosophical debate about ethical marketing and consumerism in our postmodern capitalist society, but maybe the stakes were too high.

Anonymous said...

"Most HP fans are lukewarm to the idea of the tv series and treating it with mild curiosity at best" oh yeah that's why the trailer had 277M views in 48 hours LOL you can hate the series all you want but even the behind the scenes documentary is a huge success in HBO and i'm a fan of HP since 2001, i have all the books and movies so don't speak about what i feel about the series or what the fandom will do in a few years. Haters gonna hate

Anonymous said...

"I think the person saying this will be biggest show in the world for years is completely deluded"

What else on this scope is coming down the tracks? I mean I hope something will. The books have so much more to give and once you get to POA that is when things really deviate from the movies. Also in terms of stars and star power. This isn't the early 2000's. The casting of the original movies in terms of the adult actors will never be matched. It's a big commitment so it's understandable that many would have passed on it. Besides as the series goes on it can bag bigger stars for one or two series roles. But the star is the story and if anything it gets newer generation reading once more.

"Mark my words. It will launch with a big bang and then die after a few seasons. Save this comment."

It'll be more expensive to cancel this thing trust me. The amount of merchandise alone is going to fund this. I mean if you saw the behind the scenes things like the rat that bites you is going to sell by the bucket load. HP prints money.

Anonymous said...

even the movies forgot more isnt better cutting the last book into two movies just get as much tedious stuff from deathly hallows on screen as possible and its why part 1 is so boring just all the cam, ping sitting around stuff its not good when the series isnt actually at the Hogwarts school imo

Anonymous said...

People bashed peter Jackson for years for cutting singing and tom bombadill from his Lord of the Rings

but honestly the darker tone he went with would have been ruined if this funny singing guy in crazy clothes showed up suddenly

it even feels strange in the book but at least there it kinda fits with the whimsical tone of the early part of the first book

Anonymous said...

thats nothing tbh new spiderman movie trailer hit 1 billion views in one day and is the most watched trailer of anything ever made superhero stuff will still be bigger

I just have absolutely no idea how blogger.com on an iPhone works nowadays, because a few years before you had a clear timeline or structure with everything that you could respond to, they reorganized this thread structure on iPhones and these days you also just lose completely oversight. I actually do not even know if it's really the right comment of mine I respond to. There was a time where you could comment every new comment or response to your own comment and they just made it so complicated.

Anonymous said...

"superhero stuff will still be bigger" the genre is dying even mcu are in trouble resorting to bringing back rdj and chris evans etc

Anonymous said...

You shouldn't pay much attention to those numbers for trailers these days they count people who viewed clips on twitter for 1sec while scrolling as a 'view' and other sites as well
and so many bots and AI things are used to boost viewership and streaming numbers on videos and songs and everything, its more likely half the views are fake ngl and the real number is 500m views

Anonymous said...

I have HBO max and it’s the top thing on a huge banner and after watching it once because I was curious it then opened numerous times unintentionally. I’d say at least about 5. I don’t have any axe to grind but after watching it I was very disappointed with it.
Nobody is talking about how you feel. You are simply in the minority of the fandom and are therefore throwing out petulant comments. Very few people here will be haters, the comments that I see from others above are considered and pretty rational for a blog. No offense Eden.

Anonymous said...

To be fair they made the movies whilst she was still writing it and had left bits out so needed some time to tue things together at the end, but also it was a clear cash grab by WB and even the cast were pretty cynical towards it. It could have been done in one, and I wouldn’t have missed a lot of the first film.

Anonymous said...

It’s not hating. It’s the legitimate opinion of loads and loads of people no matter how much you don’t like it. Nobody here is calling you a Stan. Everybody is just disagreeing with you.

Anonymous said...

Then you went about it wrong. Most people here are willing to engage in interesting discussion, but not when someone rambles across multiple threads. It’s not about stakes, you just annoy people.

Anonymous said...

No we don’t trust you that it’d be cheaper to cancel it. That lacks basic economics. People won’t buy the merch if they don’t like the series. WB will likely do the same on this as they did after 3 Fantastic Beasts. Cut their losses and write it off as tax.
Children are having their parents read the books to them. The world doesn’t need millions on a series for that. This is a huge waste of money.

Anonymous said...

I would caveat that that it was only a small section of the LoTR fanbase that did that. Most loved the three films, especially when compared to the hobbit which were ridiculously bloated. There was almost of bilbo losing his keys. The hobbit being 3 films was a complete and utter joke.

Anonymous said...

People will go see Spider-Man as well, it will be 2 hours of their lives and not whatever this will be.

Anonymous said...

People are sayin 3 or 4 s. I think it will squeak to 5. Wil be interested in audience drop between s 1& 2 and particularly between 2 & 3. The later one will be telling! Rings of Power had massive drop towards end s2. It will get 3rd but I doubt Amazon will carry on much more even with Amazon $$$ which far eclipses Warners
PS beautiful pic of our Emma
