“Physically we were filming when it was freezing cold and we were soaking wet all the time,” said co-star Emma Watson.
“They were throwing 5,000 gallons (18,927 litres) of water down on us every minute,” said Douglas Booth, who plays Crowe’s son in the movie.
To keep everyone pumped up, the producers pumped rock music at full blast in between takes, but when that started to fail Crowe stepped in.
“Russell was doing raffles,” Booth said to Popsugar.
“He bought a whole bunch of plasma TV’s that he was raffling off to all of the extras to keep them in good spirits.”
“Basically Russell had to bribe the extras,” joked Emma Watson.
