This is so random.

They said it was the actress.

Sounds like a waste of time.

"Sounds like a waste of time."

Why?

Modern architecture is terrible. I hope Emma's trial will improve it.

Thank God Eden is back!

There is a press release about the 2025er Prize. It also features pictures of the jury. It‘s our Emma, the actress. It‘s also on their website.

As with these Prada ads, this just doesn’t seem like a productive use of her time or considerable talent.

Anonymous said...

I think she’d likely really enjoy this

Anonymous said...

Wow she has a degree in architecture

A life of enjoyment may not be a life well spent.

'As with these Prada ads, this just doesn’t seem like a productive use of her time or considerable talent.'
What do want her to do?
She has these bursts of activity, female activism/empowerment, sustainable fashion, film-making (behind the camera) and then seemingly just drifts away from them.
She is not in full-time work or study, so can afford time for an indulgence such as this.
TBH I'm not sure what the call on her 'considerable' talent is based upon.
Has that considerable talent made a difference anywhere?

Did some of y'all forget that she's actively working on a degree? It's December she's probably stressing over exams and due dates the way any student is at this time of the school year.

Anonymous said...

That’s not what it’s about. There is a wide panel of perspectives

She does not owe anyone an explanation for how she chooses to live or work. Since the age of nine she has been involved in the same consistent areas acting, literature, education, learning, activism, feminism and fashion and these have not changed over the years. As for her “considerable talent”, it shows clearly in her work, her choices and the influence she has. For you it may not be enough. For many others it clearly is. That is why she remains relevant even when she is inactive. No one knows what she does behind the scenes or the projects, studies or achievements she chooses not to make public. She does not abandon anything she simply completes projects and moves on, like most creative people.

She finished her Masters already. Don't believe the D.Phil stuff, Daily Mail was just confused about part of her Masters requirements.

What Kristen Stewart is doing right now is exactly what I expected Emma Watson to do when she began her feminist activism in the industry.
And just to be clear, I’m not judging her. After the whole Shetty situation, it became obvious that she chose to take a more irrelevant, sidelined path… but I still see Emma focusing too much on complaints and negativity rather than using her platform and visibility to create something meaningful.
She’s been complaining for five years now, and that’s pretty much it.

Again, I’m not judging her, but I’m allowed to have an opinion about it.

It’s Emmas life, not yours. Stop judging.

Her degree ended this year's July.

I wouldn’t want her to have Kristen Stewart’s career, I personally don’t think she’s very talented and her morose demeanor drives me nuts. Give me Emma being happy every day. I’ve not seen her complaining just answering questions honestly. Refreshingly so.

Anonymous said...

You definitely are judging her though. And whining.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, who cares what Kristen Stewart is doing. We are talking about Emma Watson here, and I am here because I am her fan and I appreciate who she is. If you prefer other people, that is fine, but do not expect Emma to copy them just to please anyone. She is not going to change her plans or her life based on what you want her to do. Honestly, the whole conversation is just funny.

I’m sure Emma will still make lots of terrific things. She’s just on her timeline, not anyone else’s

Reminder that I publish comments giving Emma's location only once she's seen somewhere else. Remember she still has a stalker out there.

How do you know what Emma is working on. How do you know whether she is doing a PhD or not. And in general, how can you assume she is not involved in important projects or doing meaningful work, just because she does not make everything public?

Anonymous said...

Haven't they deported the guy?

Eden said...

I think they did, but I don't know if it means he can't come back.

Anonymous said...

I would imagine he won't be allowed to enter the UK again.

Daily Mail claimed she dropped out of her Masters degree to do a DPhil. One, that's not a thing you can do. Two, she confirmed in the Shetty podcast that she didn't drop out of the Masters. Her Masters had a requirement that she do a research placement, they didn't bother to do any research of their own to find that out so they just assumed it was a DPhil (which are all research-based).

Anonymous said...

Not judging at all! If doing random stuff with famous people is what makes her happy, that's good for her!

Anonymous said...

Yes, and that still does not prove that we have any real knowledge of what Emma is doing right now. We do not know if she is doing a DPhil, if she is not, or if she will decide to start one in the coming months. Basically, we know nothing. Everything is speculation, nothing more. And she has every right to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants, without publishing anything. That does not mean that what she is doing is not meaningful or important, even if she is not doing a PhD.

I'm happy with any activity Emma does. I remember old videos where she was genuinely happy to have fans' attention. Now everything has become too "salty" and ideological.

I hope Emma gives 1s to all the postmodern glass or concrete "boxes" and 10s to some exquisite Victorian buildings.

We also don’t know, even if she is doing one whether it’s full time or part-time. Or she could start it and do a year full time and then switch to part-time. It’s unlikely that she wants to lecture and do it as quickly as possible. She’ll probably take her time (if she is even doing one - which would be a tad strange as she didn’t mention it when she did talk about her masters, unless it wasn’t confirmed as yet)

Eden!! I'm glad you're back <3, thought something bad happened (but that just might be my anxiety speaking too loudly again)

Anonymous said...

“Sidelined path”? Can I remind you that Emma has been in the media’s eye since she was a child. She used her twenties to speak about the issues she cares about and has frankly done a lot more than other actors and celebs who speak on social issues. I will always point to how she set up a phone line people suffering from harassment in the industry during Times Up when people say she’s just a performative activist. She’s done a lot more than in social justice than other celebs have and has spent more than two decades in the public eyes. I think she’s earned spending her 30s in controlled privacy rather than filiming and promoting a movie every year and working herself to exhaustion

Anonymous said...

And in general, how can you assume she is not involved in important projects or doing meaningful work, just because she does not make everything public?
I actually think if she were doing that it would be beneficial if she did make it public.
It would bring her 'meaningful projects' attention/publicity and surely, in the majority of cases that would be useful.

Anonymous said...

Not necessarily. Making something public is useful only if the person wants attention or needs publicity for the project. Emma has never operated that way. Some of the most meaningful work people do is private, collaborative or academic, and it does not require public announcements to have real value. Sharing everything also invites criticism, noise and pressure from people who do not actually understand the work. She has every right to protect her projects until she chooses otherwise, and the impact of her work does not depend on how often she posts about it.

Anonymous said...

I also believe Emma actively and sincerely supports her projects and statements.

I've always wondered why Emma is so obsessed with freedom. It's the cornerstone of her ideology. All our ideas are determined by our needs (or indoctrination). So, Emma lived a significant part of her life believing she wasn't free. Is this the trauma of early fame and the long-standing restrictions of her contract with Warner Bros. prohibiting her from changing her hairstyle? If anything, this isn't a joke. We all remember how she started going crazy with her hair and clothes after the Potter series ended.

There’s been a terrible shooting at Brown

Anonymous said...

There’s a shooting at Brown University where Emma graduated

Anonymous said...

Shooting at rich university, killing 2, gets widespread coverage, incl lead story on BBC online.
Meanwhile;

A lot of those got coverage as well but let’s be honest a shooting at an ivy is incredibly rare, and a lot of the coverage was around the gunman having not been caught and still at large. Once they had a suspect in custody the coverage eased and was also taken over by another terrible terrible event at bondi beach.

The media goes for spectacle. Remember how much time (literal months) CNN spent on that missing airliner or that Titanic submarine. It's not news, it's entertainment.

Emma has such profound empathy Id assume this news hit close to the heart. Hope she is doing okay.
