Newspaper photographer and security guard clash on Harry Potter set

[Version française]

From Teletext:

A newspaper cameraman was accused of assault after Warner Bros security guards stopped photographers taking Harry Potter set pictures.

Police were called after Mail On Sunday snapper John Carter tried to grab an umbrella brandished by one of the security guards.

Police agreed with Carter that the guards were at fault and said they would complain to Warners.

Mail On Sunday photographer John Carter claims that after the fracas with Harry Potter security guards he found someone had spat over his car seat.

Newspaper and agency cameramen say they were in their rights to take pictures of the Harry Potter set in North Yorkshire because they were positioned on public land.

The guards use of umbrellas to block photography could have caused a breach of the peace, police agreed.
