Emma Watson invests in anti-plastic startup FabricNano

[Version française]

We finally have news! Just kidding. This is a month old but with the stress of the dead laptop and personal stuff, procrastination hit an all-time high. But better late than never, right?

Anyway, Emma and others invested a total of $12.5 million.

If you want to know what exactly FabricNano is doing:

Researchers estimate that since 1950, more than 8.3 billion metric tons of the stuff has been produced, more than one ton for every person currently on the planet. Once used, much of it is burned. The rest winds up in landfills or in the ocean, where it can take up to five centuries to fully decompose. In the meantime, it poses a threat to wildlife and, through potentially carcinogenic microplastics that enter the food chain, us too.
London-based startup FabricNano is targeting this scourge with a new kind of manufacturing that harnesses the chemical laboratories that exist inside the cells of living organisms, but it does so without the need to actually use living things. Its first product is a precursor for the creation of biodegradable polyester, which FabricNano’s founders think they can produce at a price that will make it competitive with the petroleum-based plastics that are used in everything from water bottles to fast-food trays.

That would be a big change and if it is a competitive price, the current plastics would go out of the market and that is what is needed, I am really happy that he is investing in this type of company.

slowing the output of plastic and carbon are the main things needed to slow down the destruction of this planet will it work will enough people get on board? I don't think so people care only for themselves largely and wont see anything as being wrong till much too late

when the company shuts down in 5 years and the investors make all the money back through pumping and dumping we will see what this was really about

How much social resentment there is around here, what sign of virtue? Emma has not published anything this news came out in technology a month ago and was announced by the creators of fabricnano and some partners ... seriously that the level of envy and resentment that they have for Emma in your eyes is all wrong lmao
