The conservatives in Europe are much much different than conservatives in the US, and it would make sense for Emma to support the Tories, given she is very rich. The Tories arent even that socially conservative, with them even having an LGBT wing, and many of their members are minorities. No actual conservative party would have an ''LGBT wing''. The Tories focus much more on economic liberalism (ie economically conservative) than attacking any perceived gender ideology or feminism or whatever. The biggest obstacle to filming is scheduling. Assuming the very likely scenario that the movie got delayed because of the strikes, they'd have to find another window of 8-12 weeks at least where everyone is available. Other people in the cast and crew would have already been scheduled to do other things and especially with Emma doing her masters, that would be difficult.

The strikes were most of 2023, so all the productions from that year pushed most 2024 productions out of the way.
