All of the film’s stars were there, including the three main child stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Standing up well before legions of international press and screaming fans, the three were baptised into superstardom amid catcalls and flashing lights. “I’m fine,” insisted Rupert, who plays Ron in the film, before confessing quietly to Empire Online “well… actually incredibly nervous and scared.”

That was a sentiment shared by Emma, who lost only a little of Hermione’s composure as she faced the wall of microphones and television cameras, “I’ve never seen so many people in my life,” she told us. “I feel like I’m going to throw up any minute.” Brushing off queries about stardom with a surprisingly mature nonchalance - “if it comes around, it comes around, we’ll just have to wait and see” – Emma was more excited by the prospect of meeting many of the evening’s other celebrity guests, “I’ve got my autograph book with me, I want to meet everyone!”

Utterly abashed by the screamed declarations of love from girls in the crowd, Daniel joined Rupert and Emma in signing autographs for hordes of Potter fans driven wild by the incarnation of their favourite boy wizard.
