New photo of Emma Watson from 'Little Women' in Empire - UK (October 2019)

So the wheel were quickly set in motion, with a staggering heavyweight cast soon assembled - including so-hot-right-now stars Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh, plus screen icons Meryl Streep and Laura Dern.

And none for Gretchen Weiners Emma Watson. Ouch.

Gerwig wanted the group to be truthful to her experiences of female friendships: "Everybody's always talking over each other, and it's not at all polite. I wanted them to get this synchronicity between them." To achieve this, Gerwig organised a talent show on set, to allow the young cast to get comfortable around each other. "I had them all perform for each other, which they hadn't done since they were kids," she recalls. "Emma [Watson] did this beautiful poem, Timmy did a monologue and Saoirse sang. They made me read a poem and I felt very silly."

I wish she would at least found a production company like a lot of other feminist actresses...

She can found a production company, but it doesn't mean she's gonna produce good movies. I strongly believe that her heart is not in movie industry anymore, unfortunately.

Do you think the rumours of a new Gallenberger movie are true? Not sure if it's a hoax

Gacek870 said...

You mean ''The Turncoat''? Yeah it's true, or it's something more.

Can someone post the link here? I've searched on Google "Emma Watson Gallenberger" and it doesn't appear anything about a new movie

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5917226/?ref_=rvi_tt

It's a German movie already in post-production and being released next year. Emma has nothing to do with it whatsoever.

No it's this

Apparently it's meant to start shooting January 2020, but I don't know if it's real or not.

Oh yeah, Eden posted something about on Twitter. I agree with her, that site doesn't look reliable at all and I'm not expecting anything unless someone else reports on it.

I agree, how a random web knows which roles Warner is looking for a 2020 movie who is not being reported anywhere else? Also that photo....it's not reliable at all

Dammit....things were looking up for a second there...

i guess we will see loads of press for emma soon first time in nearly 3 years!! crazy!! not to mention she is 30 soon!!

I am so sad there is such a lack of Emma news. Also does anyone find it weird promotion for Little Women hasn't really started (all we have gotten is on short video from Entertainment Tonight, the interview with Gerwig and a couple of stills.)

On another note I'm confused that Emma even chose to play Meg given her feminist values. How is the character of Meg remotely feminist when what she wants to do is stay home and have children?

You know what sucks? I contacted Emma's management team looking for an address to send a heartfelt letter. They provided an address and confirmed when they received it, but I never heard back from Emma. Not even an autographed photo or generic letter. I'm so sad. It's disappointing to see her withdraw from fans: no fan mail address anymore, no official website, no more "messages from Emma", no autographed photos and letters like back in the Harry Potter days. I feel like she doesn't even like her job anymore. Just really sucks for the people that follow her and believe in her.

Hopefully during promos she'll do some interviews where she explains more about her career plans and what she has been doing the past few years while not working....

Are you saying feminists cant or wont want that type of life? I dont think there has to be only one type of feminist when it comes to feminism. Even in the trailer Meg says something to the effect to Jo that "even if my dreams are different than yours doesnt mean they are not important".

How long ago did you send your letter?

Anonymous said...

Annon @ 5:21: I sent it last February. I was told Emma receives far too many letters, gifts and packages from fans and colleagues alike that it is impossible for her to respond to each one, and I was thanked for my support of her and her work.

"feminist values" more like pr values to be honest. its all a game.

oh don't waste your time sending her a letter she doesn't care. sorry but its true.

Annon @ 5:51 PM:

Just curious, if you think her feminism is a PR game & that she doesn't care about fans, what are you on a fansite specifically for her, for?

Anonymous said...

Why not? I'm still interested in what she is up to. Or lack of. It is a PR game all of them do it. Feminism is the latest fad surely you know this? It's how hollywierd works.

Oh and unless your a horny teenager, writing a letter to her or any big celeb is a lost cause and you should grow up.

I'm not saying there isn't also a PR element to her feminism, but if you just want attention, feminism is far from the easiest way to go. It's probably still one of the most hated social movements. As soon as you open your mouth about it, you get exposed to so much vitriol on the internet, and the public and political attitude towards it continues to be so indifferent, that there has to be at least some conviction behind it to make it worth the hassle and keep talking about it. Whatever other motivations play into it, I believe that Emma is genuinely trying to effect some change for the better.

Anonymous said...

but it's just the usual simply talking about it, though soon enough i'm sure she'll be on the greta bandwagon

Anonymous said...

She doesn't just talk about it though? She's been to developing countries, set up benefits for funds, meetings and actually doing things to help change issues pertaining to women, stop reading headlines and actually watch and listen to what she has been doing. I still can't believe people think her feminism is a) limited to western issues (like that is a wrong thing) and b) call her out for something as basic as human rights.

The Greta bandwagon? Supporting a better future is bad now? People on here are some of the worst.

Anon @ 4:51 AM:

Thank you, I agree. She does so much and it the feminist movement is so contentious that it is absolutely absurd to state or believe that it is for PR. Also it's pretty awful that the person above said "unless you're a horny teenager don't write fan letters" like what the actual heck? Maybe some people actually like Emma for the person she is, for her values and for her work, not just her body. We need to stop objectifying women NOW! It's so ridiculous. We also shouldn't shame people for writing a fan letter, like geez. So rude.

We don't know (and won't know) what is the reason Emma cramped her acting career.
Maybe she doesn't want to be part of the entertainment industry anymore, maybe she's lazy and having that money she doesn't have to work till the end of her days (as she once told), maybe she really realized there is a huge gap between her acting skills and the skills of her peers?... No one knows.
I really would like to believe she puts all her heart to the women's right. But sorry to say: I think that even if she feels very well in this area, she doesn't have enough charisma to be someone more than a lovely face (really sorry to write it).
But maybe in the future, if she decides to dedicate herself completely to the cause, she may be a great ambassador of it. But a lot of hard work ahead of her.
Although I like her face and her physicality (she's my type) and no one can tell I cannot perceive her thru her physical qualities. I CAN!
Although the above: I really think she should give up with the acting, the scope she definitely doesn't feel well at.
What bothers me or almost annoys is she's not honest if it comes to her endeavors: not only with her 'fans", but first of all: with herself.
But maybe she doesn't know yet what cause she would like to commit her time & energy. Or perhaps she doesn't want to be in the spotlight at all and would like to live a very simple life, far away from the public eye. Who knows?...

Has anyone stopped and thought maybe she doesn't want to be in the spotlight anymore? She seems to really like being an activist better and usually introduces herself as one first. If she doesn't want to act anymore, then that's fine. Nobody should be forced into something they're not that interested in anymore. Some of y'all act like acting is the only thing she can do, when she's clearly shown interest in other things. Be honest if something consumed most of your developmental years wouldn't you be interested in doing something else?
