Emma Watson founded Hestia Hebe, an investment firm, in 2017

[Version française]

From The Times:

Last week, she sprang a surprise by joining the board of Kering — the €65bn (£59bn) French fashion giant that owns Gucci and Balenciaga — where she will rub shoulders with fellow new director and former Credit Suisse boss Tidjane Thiam.
Now, Prufrock can reveal that Watson, 30, has turned her attention to working her magic by investing.
Three years ago she set up an investment firm, Hestia Hebe — named after the Greek goddesses of the hearth, home and family, and youth, respectively.

Completely unrelated but Facebook deleted the blog's page (alongside many other fan pages) for pretending to be Emma (sure), so I created a group instead. Click on the facebook logo below if you're interested.

To be fair that would explain why runs in the social circles that dhe does. And why certain things have changed their importance in her public life. Unrelated but isn't this similar to what fake-Jesus does

No not the same, Emma is just investing through this. Leo also advises companies.
Absolutely every wealthy person will invest, in fact through apps now loads of normal people do too! In fact pretty much everyone who has a pension will be investing whether they know it or not. She’d have been investing long long before this with the finances she’d have. This simply made an article as she did really well last year.
Further she’s not holding any assets through it, so no privacy issues like fallen leaves where addresses would be available, hence this company is Uk based as only her name is on public register.

It came to light to give her credibility in her new Kering role. We don't know how many decision she made in this investment group or how big her role was. Almost every celebrity found their own company, but it doesn't mean they are business experts.

Since 2015ish she said she wanted to keep things on the down low. And she wasn't kidding, good for her.

New rule: Some people being filled with nothing but negativity, I won't publish any negative comments on the day I post an article. I won't delete the comments, I'll just publish them the last after.

What's "the last after"?

I meant the day after.

How can people be negative about this? That a wealthy person has investments and a company set up by financial advisors is the most unsurprising thing in the world? And she likely has advised them to only invest in certain types of companies. I have a albeit tiny portfolio and ticked a list of what I do and don’t want to invest in (I.e. vetted ethical companies in certain industries I like, I also invest a little in some start ups to help people get off the ground). People with some a little money invest. People with lots of money invest lots so makes sense to have a company. Gods sake. She still clearly gives lots to charity and again will pay full taxes on her dividends. What are people moaning about?

This isn’t news, it’s just managing her finances. It’s only news as it made a million in last year which pretty good going, especially at the moment, it clearly picked good stocks/businesses etc.
This isn’t indicative of her moving in any circle, she’d always have invested. This is her and her advisors managing her money and earning returns on it like any smart person does. Dan has companies that invest in stocks and property, Rupert is focused mostly on investing in property, Emma is focused mostly on stocks.
This is standard, lord knows even I invest through Nutmeg and funding circle. Interest rates on savings have been absolutely shocking the last few years, it’s the only way to make more of your money.

Eden, would you ever consider launching a forum like pottershots? I miss that gang and the discussions

"Eden, would you ever consider launching a forum like pottershots? I miss that gang and the discussions"

I'm way too much of a control freak to take care of a forum unfortunately. The best I could do is create a private blog and add Pottershots members as authors so they can create their own posts.

I love that idea.
