According to the DailyMail (I know, I know), Emma " failed to finish her creative writing master's degree at Oxford. Instead she has reportedly decided to embark on a DPhil course, Oxford's version of a PhD, likely in English or Literature and Arts."
We already know she doesn't have to be on campus a lot of times to study so I wouldn't be surprised if their "source" simply assumed she quit.

Do we think this is even true?
It’s common for students that are doing a masters that along the way decide to pursue a phD that the masters gets “absorbed” in the phD program they are starting. So the work they were doing in the masters becomes their first phD year. Of course I don’t know if this is what Emma is doing but it’s what makes the most sense to me.
The same outlet that claimed for months they had "close sources" saying she was engaged to Leo.
According to the Oxford website there were 218 applicants for 31 spots last year. Giving up on your masters degree doesn't seem like it would help you get one of those spots. Likely they just saw they got called out on this BS last time and are trying to make it seem more legit by being even more wrong.
A PhD (or D.Phil) is a research course. Her masters was in creative writing so there's no overlap for it to be "absorbed".
Sorry, I don't know how the British University System works, but wouldn't you need a finished masters degree to start at a PhD?That's how it works in my country.You'd need a finished Master to start a PhD.
I mean it's odd she showed up 8n america recently when she should be studying...but source is daily fail and no one else but then again the said 5 years ago she retired from acting and yeah theres been no acting since so....
She does have a history of starting and dropping things randomly at this stage but need more sites saying it than them

Why does the Daily Mail often publish wrong information?
My idea right now is that either the Dailymail is bored and making stuff up, or they've been looking for Emma to take photos around campus for their JKR feud story and couldn't find her and assumed she quit. I'd be surprised if she did quit but I don't know her so it's possible.
paps have been unable to get her on beaches for at least year now something is going on because previously they got her every summer without fail on holidays in italy or spain or whatever so she is definitely not living her usual life currently as they cant find her and our only pics are candids and no pap shots for months and months
they want to own her for something because she never responded to the last round of hate from rowling headlines
and they want some kind of new thing to get a lot of clicks and hate and make her seem like she is failing to their anti-emma audience

being an emma fan these days is harder than being in the marines
as far as i can see you'd need a masters degree to start a phd course in English or Literature in Oxford. So maybe she applied to a phd course because she already knows her masters degree will be finished in time for the phd to start and her grades are good enough to qualify for the phd course. And the Daily Fail got that wrong. Wouldn't surprise me.

i feel they are trying to smoke Emma out with this and get her to come out of hiding and reveal her location to them by responding to this and showing what she is actually doing so the paps can get on her with new pics every month like they used to
Isn’t the Daily Fail the ones that had said she was doing a PhD (which isn’t even the right degree for Oxford) in the first place? She would have to complete her masters to do a DPhil… like if you’re going make shit up, at least stick to one storyline. Also she hasn’t allegedly been spotted with Kieran since December/January. And last time she was it was voluntarily (Tucker’s game). This is their way to lure her out,seeing as shit like this would’ve worked on her when she was with Leo…
It’s funny how in the headline they calls her swotty just to go and imply that she dropped out… She’s doing a course that is mostly independent studying with her only having to be on campus for a week at most… Also what happened to that PhD that the Daily Fail said she was working… while completely ignoring the fact that it’s the wrong name for the degree. A DPhil requires a masters…
Side note I love how nobody knows anything about Kieran other than scratching the surface of who he is as a person. They keep pushing the same old “things to know about Emma's boyfriend “ type of articles, but it’s always the same thing. Whether it’s her team or their inner circles they’re really respecting Emma and Kieran’s privacy and making it hard for anything to get out. I’m just going to be laughing if Emma later posts a picture of her getting ready for her graduation/ graduation party.
She maybe busy in helping with Kirean’s pregnancy, it’s in the advanced stage too. She maybe helping him dealing with those care needed. Even Sophie took to SM to address the issue about pregnancy issues of her friend.

Oxford doesn't publish the dates of the second year publicly and they have lots of ceremony dates throughout the year, it's not like graduating school where it's just done in one go in July. Technically you can accept your degree any time after completing your course, even years later.
It doesn't matter if it's true or not, while it's what she wants (finishing it or giving up), but God, I miss her in movies so much.
Maybe (hopefully) she’ll post an update on life on her birthday like she did two years ago?? Maybe announcing she finished whatever project she’s been doing in secret
Emma hasn't done anything in recent years, yet every article about her gets a lot of attention, shares, and reposts. So it's beneficial for them to mention her from time to time. Right now, they don't have anything new to write or publish about her, so they're just making things up.

The UK has very broad press laws. You can only sue media for libel if you can demonstrate that they printed it maliciously.

Unfortunately the fail, like all papers, run everything by a team of lawyers before its published they will have bade it sound speculative enough and used'sources say' somewhere to cover themselves by framing it as talking about a rumour someone else started than a story they created and are standing behind, real weasley moves like that
Eden you probably have a large archive of daily mail headlines on Emma would you say she seems 'targeted' by them? like there is an actual campaign to undermine her from them with malicious intent? or are comments often exaggerating here? just curious what you think?
Guys kirean is pregnant. Gir some privacy to him. It’s a joyous occasion for him no doubt but stop he has to take care of the baby. I think a little understanding from you all will go a long way.

It's possible it's just that someone she was already following reactivated their account.
Annoyingly Instagram stopped sorting follows by date added, so unless you memorized everyone she's followed, there's no way to tell.
