Emma Watson banned from driving for 6 months

[Version française]

Thank you, Anon :)

According to the Independent, Emma was made to pay a total of £1,044 at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Watson already had nine points on her licence before the speeding incident occurred, the court heard. A driver can be banned, typically for a six-month period, if they accumulate 12 or more penalty points on their licence within three years. Watson did not attend the five-minute hearing.

shocked tbh that she had so many points on her license already

its been a joke for a long time that she shouldnt be on the road for how banged up her car looked over the years like she was having minor accidents often but clearly something has been up with her driving...

Anonymous said...

Rowling daily fail and other haters are gonna be insufferable smh

Anonymous said...

eden let her out of the basement and look what happen!

never allow it again, eden XD

Eden what are your thoughts on this
does it seem very strange to you that this happened to Emma?
seems at odds with how we thought she was in real life and her clean image but clearly she is kinda careless and reckless at the least?

Eden said...

I'm surprised it too that long. Emma always said she's a bad driver.

Anonymous said...

dont get why she doesnt hire a driver at this point
seems safer for her and the public lol

Massive L ngl

Anonymous said...

she can touch the accelerator pedal with her short legs?

Anonymous said...

cars in general need to go away in big cities be replaced electric trams on rails that are free to use and cut down on all this needles driving accidents toxic fumes and traffic jams imo

Anonymous said...

I’m tired of her not being in the news for important things.

Eden is it true in france there very relaxed traffic laws and people kinda just drive in whatever way they feel? lol i see clips of Paris where there are huge amounts of cars driving past arc de triome or how ever its spelled and there is just chaos and no traffic lights ??? xD

Eden said...

I don't know if it's different around the Arc de Triomphe but in general it's not true.

Anonymous said...

Arc de Triomphe is on 'craziest' traffic laws lists i've seen but i think its exclusive to that area and rest of France is normal rules lol

Anonymous said...

It could be due to her ADHD as i know people with it have a harder time with driving

Anonymous said...

It's not the traffic laws, it's just built in the middle of 12 roads with no lane markings, so it's hard to know where to go.

Anonymous said...

well with a driving record like this emma watson is finally fully confirmed French hehe

Well, I’d rather see her get in trouble for something like this then something like drugs or theft…
It’s awful that they gave her that long because my nickname here is speed racer because I’m always getting pulled over for speeding.
I have never gotten that long of a suspension. I’m currently sitting on two points on my license right now. (The max here is six.)
I’ve had to take several driving courses.
But anyway, my issue is I lived in a place where the speed limit was a lot higher than it is here and I’m still not used to it. (Years later….)

Hugs to Emma!

Anonymous said...

Obviously, the judge, and those who sentenced her to that work for Voldemort!

That’s just smile.

Anonymous said...

So basically, she can’t drive for the rest of the year.
I’m sorry, but that’s a bit much. I don’t know how it is over there but over here I had accumulated lots of traffic tickets and I only had to take a driving education course and of course pay a fine.

Anonymous said...

How many points do you get in the UK for driving 13 km/h to much? When i would do that in here in Germany, there's just a fine and no points would be given. You only get these here if you're over 20 on the limit

Anonymous said...

3 points for speeding and 1k fine were on emma here

i think her other points cant all have been speeding but parking violations and maybe some minor crashes (her car has been shown damaged before) that ultimately were decided to be her fault

the fine and 6 month ban are maybe the judge making an example saying 'even famous people will not be immune' sort of thing

Anonymous said...

She has been warned many times at about speeding it turn out!! She is a criminal now and her career what was left of it is over. SO disappointed in her.

Anonymous said...

"dont get why she doesnt hire a driver at this point
seems safer for her and the public lol"

If I got hit by her and her car, I'd wear that as a badge of honor and would not shut up about it. I'd be star struck 😂😂😂😂
And for this lame joke Eden is going to ban me from the blog for 6 months 😆😆

Anonymous said...

Anything over the speed limit will get you at least 3 points for 4 years. The UK has very rigid traffic laws. If you get 12 points within 3 years you get a suspension.

Anonymous said...

Weirdly, Zoe Wanamaker (the Quidditch teacher from the first HP movie) also got a 6 month suspension today.

Anonymous said...

I think I lost it... why emma is the luckiest girl it world post. Still happy. 🌞

Anonymous said...

"She has been warned many times at about speeding it turn out!!"

is this true Eden? whats the source? did judge say that?

yikes

Anonymous said...

"The ban followed three previous speeding offences that had resulted in nine points on her licence and a separate incident on 6 February 2024 in which her Audi S3 was towed after being parked obstructively for nearly four hours outside a Stratford-upon-Avon pub"

Yes. It is true Eden.

I don't understand why she didn't attended at the hiring she asked for? Is it because you can't even be 2min? WTF, honestly?

Anonymous said...

ok, i would have a suspension there for this year alone :D

Anonymous said...

eden do you get bbc news france? emma will allegedly be mention at 6pm today in few mins!

Anonymous said...

not attending maybe led the judge to be harsh?

could have avoided if pled a little in person or agree to attend some courses??

Eden said...

Not anymore. And I fell on my tv recently anyway so it's dead XD

Anonymous said...

lol Oxford Mail claiming she "FAILED to appear in court". You're not required to appear for traffic offenses, she opted for the court hearing and sent a lawyer. The press reported where it would be days before so she probably assumed the paparazzi would be waiting outside.

Anonymous said...

If she had pleaded in person, the Daily Fail would have at least 3 stories dragging her through. And there would be some backlash about a celebrity fighting a charge that they could easily afford.

Anonymous said...

Or for an autograph. I'd have let her go if she'd given me an autograph (as a community service of course not as bribe)😂😂

Anonymous said...

The sun have it that:
“Ms Watson had nine points on her licence for three previous speeding offences on 8/10/23, 26/11/23 and 29/1/24.”
They also have quotes from her lawyer saying she’s a student at the moment so earns no regular salary but can pay the fine. This is all usual Court speak, they ask about salary etc for everyone it’s the same questions.

Anonymous said...

It doesn’t make it sense, it’s just fact that she had 3 previous speeding incidents in the last two years on her licence, fourth time with 3 more points is a ban. She might not have been going much over each time

Anonymous said...

No, she doesn’t have to attend and her fine was reduced as she immediately plead guilty and didn’t contest the punishment

Anonymous said...

You don't have to attend the hearing if you send a representative, especially if you're not going to fight the charge.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/35870789/harry-potter-star-emma-watson-banned-driving/

This has lots of info, and before people misinterpret, in the UK if you have to pay a fine the court asks if you have a salary - meaning a fixed periodic payment such as weekly or monthly from an employer. Emma’s lawyer confirmed she isn’t currently salaried (which she wouldn’t be regardless of promotions or a production company etc). But he would then have to confirm that she has means to pay, as standard, which he did.

Anonymous said...

In other words, everybody in my hometown would have been suspended from driving since January.

Anonymous said...

No you don’t have to attend traffic court, and the judge was actually lenient fine wise due to Emma’s conduct. But speeding her equals 3 points, and 12 points is an automatic 6 month ban, so nothing judge could do there

Eden said...

Thank you for the Sun source :)

Anonymous said...

sun are a dodgy source for anything be careful till more articles confirm

Anonymous said...

Do you think Emma will do something to distract the press from this? I would say a new movie but that would probably be pushing it lol

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry, but I love how unserious this is for most of the American commentators I've seen on posts covering this story. As a Texan, everybody has sped minimum 5mph over the limit more than once this week (except in small towns that have sheriffs instead of cops). However, I would like to use this as a prime example of why Emma should be the lead of a new Fast and Furious spin-off movie. I even have the perfect setting for it filmed at... To anybody who knows any casting directors... in 6 months girly is free to start filming. She even has the track record (8mph over the speed limit) to back up her abilities in flying down the streets... of Oxford.

Anonymous said...

I got 3 points because my brother’s car is under my name and he was caught speeding. Here, even touching the traffic light line can mean points and a €300 fine, so many people are close to the limit. You can usually speed where there’s no camera. I should check for tickets, I’ve made some last-minute traffic light calls. Emma’s parking issue might’ve cost her a lot of points.

Anonymous said...

The judge also issued a driving ban to one of her HP castmate today, and she was only 6 mph over the limit... As an American, it really does read as "even famous people will not be immune" if I'm being honest.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone else feel the English media has it in for her? They want another Amy Winehouse to shame and push to the limit, because even when there were positive stories about Emma exercising, the headlines tried to shame her for losing. This business of infractions or license suspensions shouldn't be news; it's something normal that can happen to any citizen, but I feel the press is overreacting to Emma.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry but I'm not taking The (we took underskirt pictures of a teenager, then printed them out on the front page of the morning newspaper, she turned 18) Sun as a source about anything Emma related.

Anonymous said...

We have to be reasonable. This shouldn't have been news from the start, but I guess the media is already wishing Emma ill. I just hope she's cautious and doesn't get caught in public; that's what the media wants: to see her vulnerable. Let her be wary of public opinion about what comes next. Perhaps if she stays there, Oxford will be surrounded by bad people who want to kick her out.

Anonymous said...

Yes, all this publicity is ridiculous, especially considering the reason she got those points. I mean, she probably got some for that parking issue or other minor things like that. But these are situations many drivers deal with.

Eden said...

Anyone else feels lie paparazzi are going to be all over her in the next few days? If she's still in the UK, I bet we'll get photos with some headlines talking about her not being able to drive.
I don't know why the Clueless quote "a virgin who can't drive" popped up in my head as I was writing XD

Anonymous said...

I’d probably thank her for running into me! lol
Wouldn’t get the car fixed. “Oh that? Emma W. hit me.”
