Emma Watson promotes thredUP

From Emma's Instagram:

"Our closets impact the planet and climate more than you might realize, which is why I am proud to partner with @thredUP to launch their new Fashion Footprint Calculator (link in bio!) They created an easy to use tool, and I’m so excited to help people discover the carbon impact of their wardrobes, and steps you can take to lighten your fashion footprint. They’ll tell you what your fashion footprint is equivalent to a number of flights, exactly how many pounds of CO2 it produces and how you fare compared to an average consumer. Small changes, such as thrifting instead of buying new, supporting sustainable brands, and air-drying your clothes, can make a HUGE difference. My friends at @GoodOnYou are also included in the directory at the end of the quiz, where you can get more info on the impact of your fashion choices. Also, if you don’t know @thredUP , they are one of my favourite online thrift stores. They make it incredibly easy to find any brand and style secondhand at up to 90% off est. retail, from high street brands to some of my favourite designers. I love their mission to inspire us to think secondhand first and create a more circular fashion future. (P.S. they are just shipping to U.S. and Canada currently, but the Calculator is available to everyone!) Find out your fashion footprint by clicking the link in my bio, or heading to thredup.com/quiz to make a difference for the planet! #fashionfootprint"

New "professional opportunities"? LOL

Anyway, it's great that she cares about environment :)

I'm glad she's turning to environment. She can't go wrong with that and that's totally coherent with what she did all those past years with fashion.

Maybe meeting with Bonie at Christmas was a spark in that direction ? ;)

I am surprised that this "time foe her" it is for the criticism received for her absence in the promotion of Little Women. I think Emma has rethought that she has not really had movies or roles in those, very prominent , not even in Beauty and the Beast, which really was a success for Disney's nostalgia, not for her acting.
I think she is aware of her limited performance and more after working with Saoirse that has 4 nominations (the last one by Jo) and even Florence Pugh who is a newcomer, who was not famous, has won her first Oscar nomination, and her performance has been very much praised, and Emma has been dedicated to this for many years, and she has not gotten great reviews, or great movies. I think she would focus on her activism, because the acting she is clearly not longer interested in

To Anon at Jan 18 @ 11:46

Not everything is about competition, between actors or actresses, or in every realm of society. I think it's a shame and a really limited perspective to believe that Emma seems to be halting acting projects due to feeling a lack of confidence around her acting abilities. This is pure speculation.

My thoughts in general:

She's obviously got some projects in the works, be it films, advocacy or personal things we as the public won't be privy to. Whatever the case, she has clearly re-evaluated her life and what she wants to do with it, and I have no doubt she will put thought, energy and dedication into whatever she is pursuing next.

I get really sad not seeing her more in films, or in the public eye in general, it disappoints me how she gets really passionate about projects and then leaves them completely after a while. A real shame, and shows indecisiveness and perhaps some uncomfortability (not knowing what she really wants). I hope she will be able to get some good perspective and really make a positive difference in the world. I'm almost positive a lot of the activism work still goes on, but it's behind closed doors, as we know, a lot of public attention surrounding her makes her nervous and anxious. I do suppose all that pressure and attention would bog a person down, especially after over a decade of it!

I honestly think that Emma should do something with her great intelligence instead of acting. No offense, but she is not a great actress at all. She started acting when she was 10 so it's normal she wants to focus on other things now after realising it's not her biggest passion and not her greatest strength either. She was made more for activism and I really think she should focus on that instead.

Hello anonymous, I know that not everything in life is a competition, but this world, the world of cinema, is very competitive. I know people from this world and it's very competitive, you have to be the best among the best and I'm afraid that Emma is not a bad actress, but she is not so good, as the other anonymous says ("No offense, but she is not a great actress at all ") I think she has realized that she has no great achievements in the world of acting that her co-stars are better than her, that they have received better reviews (not only in Little women but in all her movies) I think she has realized that she is 29 years old (almost 30 years old) and the only thing she has done is to amass a great fortune, which is great, but money does not give happiness.
Her greatest achievement has been to be a UN women ambassador and she doesn't even seem to be linked to it anymore.
I agree with you, when you say this "it disappoints me how she gets really passionate about projects and then leaves them completely after a while. A real shame, and shows indecisiveness and perhaps some uncomfortability (not knowing what she really wants)" Emma has very good ideas, the first months she gets involved and then disappears. I don't know if it's because she is unstable to get involved with things, because she gets bored, I don't know, but it's a shame that a 30-year-old woman is not able to focus on something, she is very intelligent she could do it without problem , but I think she is something unstable to compromise.
For me Emma is a very intelligent woman, sweet, with personality, but I have seen her and I see her currently very lost in life. I don't know what exactly she wants.
Act? I honestly don't see her motivated to act, and all her co-stars get over her
Activism? She likes it, it is obvious, but every time she does less, it is what I said earlier, at the beginning very motivated but now it seems that she is already or is so focused.
Be director, write? that takes time, and as I said and many people say, Emma is passionate at first and then forgets
Emma is a very fickle person, she is a good girl, intelligent, educated, discreet, but quite fickle

I think Emma has not been 100% comfortable with her role as Meg, I have seen the movie and although Saoirse and Florence are wonderful, Emma was not bad, a bit dull but not bad. It is a pity that she did not want to "defend" her role, in fact when asked in the Vogue interview or when she interviewed Rebecca Solnit, Emma talked about Little Women in general, do not talk about her role. She could see defended that although Meg was the most traditional of the sisters, her life option is as valid as any other, that is feminist, choose your path, in fact in an interview on the red carpet in NY she said she I felt identified with Jo, so I think she wasn't happy with her role, but if she wasn't comfortable, why did she accept the role?

Emma is in Mexico now, a fan saw her at the airport, there are pictures. But I don't know how to send you, eden.
Mexico seems like her refuge when things don't go as she expected

Eden said...

Thanks Anon, I saw those photos :) I don't know yet if the person is okay with me posting them or not.

I believe, only I believe because obviously we cannot be sure, but I believe that Emma is somewhat saturated, when she said she was scared because she was going to turn 30, and that she did not have the things that you are expected to have when you turn 30 years (I am 26 years old and I am in that situation) I believe that she has taken stock and has realized that she really does not have a great career as an actress, her activism, although good, it is increasingly weak, she hardly has acts , interviews ... the nomination of Saoirse was more than evident his "Jo" is wonderful and being younger than Emma, with 25 years has been 4 Oscar nominations. Florence's nomination has been a surprise, in fact nobody knew Florence, she was a stranger, and her performance of Amy has been perfect.
I think Emma has been saturated, she has not been comfortable like Meg, hence her lack of interest in the promotion and the agreement with Sony.
Our Shared Shelf, her most lasting project, had not been involved for months, was expected to take a step back
The heforshe campaign, has not returned anything done with the UN, now its activism is more independent, which is not bad, but I do not know very well what happened, because at first the UN for her was wonderful and now nothing of nothing
Activist interviews are fine, but they are consecrated activists that they are doing Emma a favor, not Emma to them
Their personal relationships are not lasting, I don't know if of their own volition or I don't know, but their boyfriends are not usually stable.
I think Emma is saturated because she doesn't know what to do with her life. He doesn't know how to focus on something.
She doesn't find something she is passionate about.

Anonymous said...

Eden, what do you think about this?
Do you think Emma is saturated, uncomfortable because she has not achieved a great career, because her co-stars have received good reviews and nominations?
Do you think Emma is, I do not know how to say this, disgusted because she has not achieved certain goals? Do you think she is a very fickle person?
I would like to know your opinion

Anonymous said...

I was surprised that she has not pronounced on the support of JK Rowling to a woman who was fired for saying that the gender of a person cannot vary, when Emma has openly defended the change of sex, I understand that it is a situation difficult because she has grown up with JK Rowling, she also surprises me that she didn't say anything about Greta's lack of nomination for best director, yes, Emma has retweeted an article about this, but she hasn't spoken openly, she has always said she should to see more female directors and more opportunities for them.
I get the feeling that Emma wants to be a feminist but without getting into trouble, she is a feminist but without giving her opinion about the people around her

Eden said...

"Eden, what do you think about this?"

As you or that other Anon said, I can't know for sure because I don't know her, but to me it seems she never had a passion for acting and I think she was pressured to pursue it, especially during Harry Potter. I think she finds way more satisfaction in activism but it feels to me like she gets very excited about a new project and gives her all to it and tends to push aside all other projects. I don't think she cares about acting nominations though, she never talks about those things. I think whatever goals she has, it's not related to acting. But I also think she will continue to act because it's good money that she can then put into feminist causes.

Anonymous said...

thank you very much Eden for your opinion :) always correct and sincere :)

Anonymous said...

After HP, Emma said she was lost, that she did not know what to do with her life and sincerely I think she continues at that point, I do not seen her centered, she does not know what she wants. Her acting career has not been very good, and I have sincerely seen her uncomfortable and lack of emotion with her role as Meg in Little Women.
When she talked about Belle, she made him excited, about her role in Lena in Cologne too, like Mae in The circle, she was very happy, even as Niki in The bling ring was excited because it was a very different role to Hermione but in Little Women I have not seen her excited, she has also worked with great actresses and Greta who is a great director, I do not know, I have seen Emma "sad" uncomfortable "
I think Emma had some expectations for her career that have not been met and her activism is getting smaller

I agree with Eden. She liked acting a lot as a kid. In school. It's very different from acting in movies that are watched by millions and millions of people. It's very obvious she doesn't like the life that comes with being an actress. Basically she cannot live an anonymous life at all and it's obvious that this bothers her. Although she has a university degree, it's very hard for her to get an 'ordinary job', simply because she's Emma Watson. If I try to put myself in her shoes, I'd be extremely confused about what to do at her age. You're raised as an actress. Incredibly famous. But incredibly bothered by the lifestyle that comes with it. And it's very hard to leave that life behind, peacefully. People have done it, but it's not easy. And so, it becomes rather hard to figure out what you want to do. Even for me these things are hard to find out, let alone for a famous person like Emma.

What was always a major red flag to me, was that she considered quitting Harry Potter at some point. It's a really big deal at such an age (I guess she was around 16) to take such things into consideration and it really shows that there are more important things in life to her than acting. She kinda reminds me of Rupert Grint. A major difference between them is that Rupert isn't educated and he himself said that acting is basically his only way to make money. Emma is lucky to be more free in the choices she makes.

Anonymous said...

Eden, do you think emma should see more openly expressed about why Greta has not been nominated for best director or about the JK Rowling case?

Anonymous said...

Eden, do you think Emma has been uncomfortable with Meg's role because she is not the feminist prototype?

Anonymous said...

I like Emma, she is a great, intelligent girl, with wonderful ideas, I like her to focus on real things, because for me today, it matters a lot more a girl who uploads a video putting on makeup, fixing her hair or talking about a wardrobe that the real problems that happen to us to the rest of the world, unfortunately we live in such a society. For that reason I like Emma, she is a committed girl, who only talks about her work, she does not need to sell her private life as the influencers who charge Money for selling your life.
Emma is a committed woman, worried about the world, she was determined to get a university career. As an actress she is not my favorite, in fact I have to confess that I have seen her movies because she likes me, but not because I think she is a good actress.
I like her activism
but as we said she is very fickle, at first she is very focused and then she forgets and then commits to something else and forgets again, she is not able to keep the attention. I hope you find her way through it , she need a way, because she seems to me a somewhat emotionally unstable person

Rebecca Solnit in the interview that was conducted by Emma, made a "subway" in NY with names of emblematic women and she suggested Emma make one in London, Emma was enthusiastic but I wonder if she will really carry out this project ;)

Anonymous said...

yes, in fact at the end of the interview rebecca says "in this conversation is recorded Emma has committed with the subway London project" Emma has no escape ^^

I geniuenly feel for her(and most child actors)though, as stated above she does seem kind of lost at the moment. And hopefully she'll find something that truly makes her happy and that she's passionate about. At the time though I personally don't think it's acting. She genuinely seems to care about people and the things around her.So her future plans may be heavily be related to activism of some kind. At this point I'd just like to see her genuinely happy and not have to pretend she is like she has in the past.

Anonymous said...

The fact that she's been quietly trying to leave acting behind shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. She's been one foot out the door since her HP days. No one can really blame her, I mean the thing I'm passionate about now arent the exact same from when I was a kid. She's said that the lifestyle that comes with being an actress isn't exactly one she would've chose if she knew what would happen. I hope she does more activism related things though. She seems like a genuinely good person who really cares about others. But before that I'd like to see her happy everybody deserves at least that.

Someone asked above about the newest photos of Emma in Mexico. No one replied to it so far. This is the very first blog I'm reading where a lot of people are haters for whom making other guys upset is the biggest satisfaction. There are others who are not that negative but there are maybe few who'd like share the content found somewhere else.
It's really sad that almost no one is willing to direct you to other sources where something else is to find.
I've just tried to find those photos on my own (IG included).
Unfortunately with no success.
Most likely those are posted in a IG and have been seen only by those who know the account.
Few weeks ago someone pointed us to an IG page where 2 seconds video of Emma the flower market has been put. Thanks for it.
Sorry to say but a huge majority of people who're observing this page is extremely selfish. Of course not only but it's a really high number.
I'm visiting the blog, out of curiousity, hoping to find new pics of Emma. Thanks Admin for your hard work.

"A major difference between them is that Rupert isn't educated and he himself said that acting is basically his only way to make money. Emma is lucky to be more free in the choices she makes."

She comes from a privileged well connected background and like Dan that is the reason they got the roles in HP.

Anonymous said...

Dan did almost 20 auditions before he got the role and his parents didn't want him to audition at first also Emma got the role after doing auditions too so do a bit of research before telling lies

Gacek870 said...

Yes it's true. On the other hand after HP she didn't have to win any audition. She was although invited to do the project ( Beauty and the beast, The Bling ring, Regression, Colonia, The perks of being a wallflower) or she was chosen, as a replacment ( Little women, Noah, The circle, This is the end). So basically one audition opened her door to whole career.
