Emma Watson's director's cut for the Renais commercial + her US exclusive artwork

[Gallery] [Fashion] [Version française]

She's alive! But only to promote Renais, of course.

You can buy Renais and Emma's exclusive artwork for $80 on Renais' website.

  • Her Instagram's messages about the first three photos:
"Photos by Hollie Fernando @holliefernando Styling and artwork by me."

  • Her message about the video:
"I am very proud to share my director’s cut commercial for @renaisspirits to celebrate us heading to the United States. The US has been my second home since I first went to Brown in Rhode Island, so I am thrilled to be bringing Renais abroad and home again! Making this with friends and family has been one of the most rewarding, creative experiences I’ve ever had so, thank you @alex.s.watson 🙏💜 Bonus! I’ve turned some of my artwork into a limited edition sleeve - available only in the US. Thank you to everyone involved, enjoy and please drink responsibly xxx Love, E"

Nice!
He wondered why they gave it the name they did and it makes sense.
I love that she’s into art. That she likes to do art.
Creative and relaxing!

is insta really broken for anyone else? not loading correctly and so slow its like the wifi died? but then you go to another site and its fine??

He said it was a new commercial, but isn't it just the same closeups and voiceover as the first one?

Anonymous said...

The same kind of closeups I mean, not literally the same shots necessarily. It's just weird, he keeps talking about how she's put so much creative energy into it but it's just vignettes. Other than them just telling you there's nothing showing how it's supposed to reflect their childhood or the region or even reuse. I don't know what I'm missing here.

I mean it says her director’s cut for the US but it just looks like the same commercial as before… I don’t understand. Has anybody tried the gin??? Is it worth it to buy???

It’s the same general content she shot previously, she’s recut it for the US (fair enough - it’s great looking)
The gin is lovely, buy it if you get the chance

If this didn't have her name attached to it, would you buy it based on this commercial? Funny thing is they keep trying to deny that it's just another celebrity gin while also putting her name to it every chance they get.

I've got the same impression. It's the same clip they already had on their website just with clearer sound. Or without a filter?

To answer the other question: I've got a bottle of Renais in the UK and it is truly a very good gin. The taste is a bit sweeter than London Dry and I like that very much. Can really recomment it. I'd even say it's worth the hefty price.

Well, let's put it this way: Her involvment made me look Renais up but then I got interested because of the idea to make it from used grape skin and the botanicals. That was the real reason I bought a bottle. I wanted to know what it tastes like. Having tried it, I must say it is a really good gin.
If it wasn't for her face people probably wouldn't look it up but the product itself must be of high quality. Otherwise it wouldn't be that successful.

Honestly!!!
No.
I may buy a drink that has it in it not realizing it was their gin. (Like I bought a drink on a cruise that I thought “looked pretty” and it tasted great. Later I was told it had a splash of the tequila Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo own. I was like, “Oh?! Okay.”)

They are not saying it’s HIS gin! I don’t know why everyone keeps saying that, because he HIMSELF always says it’s a family gin.
Which being a family thing from years back makes it sound nicer than a celebrity just agreeing to slap their name on it calling it their drink.
I think Alex is in more control of it than her or even their father.
I don’t think they can help when people advertise in their magazines or other places saying her name to get more attention.
I mean ENews just did a segment about it coming to the USA.
I’m sure if they just said, “Alex Watson…” or “The Watson family in England…” no one would really perk up as they do when they say, “Harry Potter star Emma Watson…”

Will I try it because it has her name in it? Sure! I adore her as an actress.
I don’t want to buy a full bottle though.
Maybe a glass at a restaurant or something. Just to try.

So apart from having her name on it, I do like the fact that this is a family thing and that they’ve had this vineyard for years.
Her brother goes around and really pushes it out there and she’s doing the artsy stuff for it.

Well Alex is the actual CEO, Emma is a co-founder but is the creative direction. The lines are pretty clear

My question was more about the commercial. Would you buy it based on that commercial if that wasn't Emma in it?

And to anyone who will answer anon's question above, have you ever bought alcohol based on a commercial? I don't drink alcohol so I don't know, but I can't imagine anyone buying alcohol based on an ad.

It’s the same commercial as before… so creative…

Judging by the likes on IG, looks like everyone is tired if it too

-Honestly, no I wouldn't buy it based on the commercial...

It's a shame because the Prada commercial was really great, abstract but she really sold the idea of being divided between identities and passions. This just seems like it's made for an Insta reel.

Understanding the challenges of video creation, I often repurpose the same videos / designs for different audiences. This is a daily task in my role, as I adjust the same videos slightly to suit audiences in France, Canada, the US, the UK, India, and beyond.

Have you considered the significance of a wine or gin's history?

Their history in this field allow them to create high-quality alcohol, given that this isn't their family's first try into the industry.
As someone who grew up in the Mediterranean, spending summers hopping from one vineyard to the next, I found a connection with them.
My opinion, it's so important to share your history and work in this specific industry to be able to gain the trust of customers.

The commercial has a very different aim to the prada one though, the Renais one is also very pretty and well lit and coloured, but it’s much more about creating a connection to them as people and their history and through that the brand. As someone said above that’s what wine is all about so it’s similar. Very different to a perfum ad.
And why she recut something she created. It’s our fault for thinking they’d shoot something completely new just for US launch, they probably will more as a follow up, it’s a lot of money to shoot a whole new commercial and it’s a small brand.

Well it is made for socials, it won’t be on television like prada

I believe you understand the difference between having a crew like Prada's working on a project compared to a small crew. Each person working on a Prada commercial is likely an expert in their specific field; you can't compare it to a family product commercial. Also, they are completely different industries.

Emma did bring in some of her prada crew for Renais. Some being the word. But it’s just a different type of content

Anonymous said...

Some of the same crew were used though with obviously a widely different budget

I like it…
