This date from December 2025 so I don't know if it's still going on.
Emma is said to have taught 11 students that she invited to a Christmas party she hosted. The person doesn't know exactly what Emma is teaching saying "something performance-related, focusing on communication".
If you have news to share (pictures, infos, scans...), please send an email to eden@emmawatson-updates.com

If she really is a lecturer now, then I guess that it’s now confirmed that she finished her masters.
She’s so smart ! Jealous
Not really as such. She is just using her privileged connections.
Come on Eden you can do better than this.
An unsourced report from a person who claims Emma is a lecturer they just have no idea what in.
And lo and behold a picture of Emma in a mortarboard and academic apparel, which a quick reverse image search will show has been online since 2015.
This is Daily Mail level of fail.
Eden, how did you find this out ?
Why post this as new? I know the post is new but it literally said in her profile for brilliant minds that she had taught at Oxford!! We discussed it then. It’s very likely she started picking up tutorials as part of her masters. If she’s doing a DPhil she’d also do this. It’s not switching to be a permanent lecturer, it’s incredibly standard to teach small classes and select courses as part of what she’s doing.
What will be super frustrating for everyone with any knowledge of this is comments like the above asking if she’s a lecturer now!!
We already know this from the Stockholm event. Eden the headline is misleading, people will think she’s a full time lecturer and that isn’t the case at all. She’d have picked up classes and tutorials as part of her study and probably still does.
Nearly all research masters students at Oxford teach, likewise those progressing towards a DPhil. It’s great that she’s done or doing it, but watch the totally misinterpreted “oh so she’s left acting” comments roll in.
Good for her but, whilst it isn’t compulsory, Oxford DPhil students, especially in humanities, nearly always act as undergrad “lecturers” or tutors running small-group tutorials or leading laboratory demonstrations and classes. It sometimes happens during part-time or research masters as well depending on the college and the subject. So it could have been for either. And it’s pretty normal.
Hasn’t this been discussed for the last few months on here as it was in her brilliant minds public profile? Someone here even said about the students being invited to her place in Oxford over Christmas and Emma being their tutor… this feels like Déjà vu.
She finished her masters last year. The only question is on whether she’s actually gone onto a DPhil. It looks likely but we don’t know. And you can teach tutorials during a masters anyway depending on the collage.
Lol Eden. Appreciative of your efforts, but we know. It’s already been on here!
I thought for a split second this was an actual lecturer job and then opened the post and realized it’s been said about her teaching as part of her studies. Bit of a jump start.
Good Masters and PHD students taught classes at my uni. I thought that was normal
It is, really normal
Nothing to do with privilege, it’s a regular part of postgrad study.
Exactly nothing to do with privilege, they clearly know she’s smart enough and wants to do it.
eden have you noticed an issue commenting on bloger again? just it will say 'publishing' forever when trying to post maybe this post wont even get through i dunno
It’s really nice to know that you can lecture during a master’s. During a PhD, okay, I knew that. And I mean, it doesn’t have to be some huge “wow” achievement to still be nice to know that she did it.
It’s extremely rare during a one year full time masters but during a research or part-time masters, yes you usually can, and it’s not uncommon depending on the subject and uni. Often masters students are asked especially, if the uni is short on tutors, which is happening more and more due to funding squeezes. PHD students nearly always do, it’s not mandatory as others have said but would be very strongly encouraged.
But yes agreed as most have said it’s nice that she’s done it but shouldn’t be treated as some massive thing.
Once she finishes her DPhil I would also fully expect her to teach short courses or semesters occasionally between other things she wants to do. That’d be pretty common at Oxford. Loads of lecturers actually aren’t full time staff.
Yeah it happened throughout the day yesterday
Smart enough? She went to Brown LOL!
No she’s left acting comments as yet - I think thankfully most people understanding what’s happening
I don’t think people aren’t celebrating it, what she is doing is impressive. They are more pointing out that’d it’d be much more surprising if she didn’t teach.

Likewise and if possible for her to do this alongside some film stuff, in whatever capacity, would be ideal! She can teach and act/write/produce/direct whatever and be happy
Brown isn't the best example for so called smart. Not even in the top ten US universities.
Come on now we’ve always known she’s smart, she’s demonstrated that over the years across various things.
LOL Brown is an Ivy League school, and the 13th highest ranked univeristy in the US, tied with likewise prestigious Dartmoth. You can write your ticket nearly anywhere from Brown. Above that, the only school benefits are networking. That's 13th out of 2600 schools.
And if you think famous movie star Emma Watson couldn't have just walked into any school and gotten admitted for sheer PR/prestige, you probably wouldn't qualify for Brown yourself. It's very likely she chose Brown in part to avoid accusations of "not deserving" to go somewhere like Harvard or Stanford... from all the legacies and rich idiots who totally deserve to be there.
Which is to say, ranking intellect by which school you end up in is dumb. It's been clear for like 26 years that Emma is very bright. Lecturing at Oxford doesn't prove she's smart, but she's smart enough to be a very good lecturer at Oxford.
Over the years, in random interviews or whatever I happen to watch, the first thing people who’ve actually met her tend to mention is how clever she is. So I mean, it’s pretty well known that she’s genuinely very smart. That’s how the HP cast and directors describe her, as well as other people who’ve worked with her or met her.
Emma is on Substack ! Check her ig story
Eden, Instagram again please Big News ! - Ricky
Her writing in the New Yorker is beautiful, it’s a wonderful and poignant tribute. But I couldn’t help noticing what a good writer she is
What evidence have we seen? She comes across as condescending at times especially in that recent podcast.
I'm afraid I've seen nothing to suggest Emma is that much more clever for someone from such a privileged background.
Damn, we've finally made it to the point where some of y'all are downplaying graduating from an Ivy and attending Oxford... Not even hate pages have gotten to that point; congrats. If you genuinely think being admitted to either of those schools, you should try applying. I'm not saying you have to attend; just apply and see what happens. Because there's a reason they have the level of prestige and legacy that they do. I won't speak for any person who attended university in England, because I didn't attend myself. But I don't think most non-Americans realize what it takes to get accepted into an Ivy. Having good grades doesn't mean anything to the admissions board; most of the students at those schools were in the top ten percent of their respective graduating class in high school. You need something that makes you stand out from every other student with your GPA, SAT, and ACT scores. And being from a privileged background isn't something that makes you stand out either. They're already used to people with more money in their bank accounts than most of us will ever see applying as well.
If Brown accepted anybody off of PR or sheer prestige, it wouldn't have the alumni list that it does. It's actually one of. Just ask all the parents who tried to bribe their child into being accepted during Operation Varsity Blues in 2019. And while you're there, you might want to look into Brown's very public history of rejecting billionaires and their proposals
Which is why you always hire a ghost writer
It’s one person and everyone else is treating them as an idiot.
There’s a user here who will complain about literally everything, they’ve reached a new low
What evidence have we seen? She comes across as condescending at times especially in that recent podcast
Where and how?
Don’t engage, the commentator clearly has issues with themselves.
You must be very unhappy in life to come on here and troll. I feel sorry for you
Guys it’s just that usual person venting on here. Ignore them
I know it’s most like the same troll that likes to complain about everything on here… But I can’t help but feel pity. Because being bothered by a stranger’s educational background is a new level of weird ngl.
