Kate Walsh is joining Emma and Logan Lerman in 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', EW has learned exclusively. Walsh will play a smart, Midwestern mother concerned about her shy high school freshman son (Lerman), who is befriended by a party-happy high school senior (Watson). Stephen Chbosky, the author of controversial young adult novel, is directing from his own screenplay; production is currently underway in Pittsburgh. Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, and Nina Dobrev also star in the film.
