Emma Watson plays bartender, talks about directing and her family

[Screencaps] [Fashion]

Thank you, Miranda! I feel like I saw in Alex's Instagram stories some photos about this yesterday. Did anyone save them? Or maybe it was someone else's stories.

"I made copious notes. Look! There's diagrams, there's amounts... This is true to me. I love learning and I love note-taking."

"My father makes wine and has made wine since before I was born actually. [...] Deeply, deeply loved by my father is this wine. It was the reason that I slept in a very cold bedroom when I was a child because he used to store the wine bottles at the back of mine and Alex's room. So we would often complain that it was cold! And he'd say 'Well, gotta keep the wine at a certain temperature.' That's probably the definition of the first world problem."

"I'm really really really good at table tennis and spent many many hours playing Dan Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. That's how I spent my youth."

"My brother and I cook together. We host dinner parties. That's my idea of bliss. And actually I'm really lucky. I have friends who cook for me aswell."

"I don't feel like Hermione Granger has a cocktail, do you know what I mean? But, you know, maybe in the later when things got really stressful and hairy, when she has loads of responsibility and a really stressful jobs."

"I've been directing! And writing! Which has been really amazing. And it started during covid and I just realized how much I loved it and I wanted to keep doing that and so I'm actually studying that as well. To direct something that I'd written one day, that would make me pretty excited. I don't see myself as having stepped away from acting. I just see myself as wanting to expand what I do and being able to be in things that I have written or directed or produced. To really be at the start of a project. It takes time. Films can be decades in the making. Finding it, and writing it, putting it together. I don't see it as a closing down, I see it as an opening up."

"Flowers are very important and a very big part of my life. If you know me then you know that there are flowers everywhere, all the time."

I'm in love with this woman <3

Content warning required for lethal levels of cuteness and charm. I got the diabeetus just from watching this.

Her eyes are so expressive!
First official Emma content of 2024 is 🔥🔥
Let's hope it just keeps getting better, better and better!!

Her voice is so soft, soothing and kind but also strong and confident. It is like music to my ears. I could listen to her all day.

Eden, you're funny, there's just this one second (!) in 11min where she puts her tongue out like this, and you're like: "Caught!! 😏" and immediately put it on your site! 🤣🤣

OMG, she just took her massive shoe and made 'boom, boom, boom', I had to laugh hard 🤣🤣 However, Misha might "not be amused" about this unconventional use. 🤣🤣

Did you notice Alex's look when he came into the video! 😮 👀
In the video doubtlessly he's the more calm part... 👀🤷‍♂️

I noticed some of the flowers lately... 👀

Emma: "see myself as wanting to expand what I do" ❤️🖤❤️

"diabeetus just from watching this" 🤣🤣 that's a good one!

❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️ to Emma (of course)

My coworker (Also close friend!) and I watched this during lunch break.
She said, “Stick to Potions ‘Hermione!’”
It made our day!
She’s too cute and she made us smile/laugh watching.
Her brother seems very sweet!

I do eventually want to try this stuff. 🍷

She’s a delight!
I know zero when it comes to mixing drinks, but it was fun watching.

When did they film this, month wise?

Anonymous said...

Think all this vogue stuff was done last year after emma was seen with the vogue editor at tennis

dabo said...

Classy, lovely... and so foul-mouthed

Anonymous said...

Not going to lie... it caught me off guard seeing her go to town using a shoe from a luxury brand that she's currently one of the muses of... to crush ice... but hey whatever works right? They could also say their shoe has officially passed the Emma Watson stress test. It's also nice to see that the older sister and little brother dynamics are still in place for celebrities.

Anonymous said...

I love how Alex knew where this was going before Emma challenged him to a race... and Emma's little "but mine is prettier" line when he technically finished first, it really hones in on the reality of any competition between siblings.

Anonymous said...

Barista is some who makes coffee. I know she makes an expresso martini but I believe the word you’re looking for is mixologist (someone who makes cocktails).

Anonymous said...

Seems like not to expect any filming work from her, until she is writing or producing it 😬

Anonymous said...

Not necessarily. She’s said she’s willing to act again under others but it needs to be the right thing with the right people.

Anonymous said...

That’s not what I took from it at all. Being excited to write, produce and direct projects in which she might also star does not automatically exclude her from acting in the projects of others. It’s not an either or. Why do people read in negativity that isn’t there.

Anonymous said...

She’s just expanding what she’s doing, not limiting herself.

Anonymous said...

At least she will be mixing Emma drinks or start an Emma cooking course. Seriously, I think that would be a lot of fun. She only needs to be trained as a cook.

"Films can be decades in the making" lol that's not how it works unless you are Scorsese or Spielberg, also no one can write/direct/produce a movie by himself/herself. It needs funding, a production company willing to make it, a crew and actors wanting to work with that person. If it was easy many actors would be directors and writers too

Anonymous said...

Getting funding and a production company willing to make it is what causes many films to be decades in the making. That's what she's talking about. Morgan Freeman bought the rights to make an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous With Rama 24 years ago. It only got a director (Denis Villeneuve) last year.

Anonymous said...

Er yes they can be decades in the making from the first thought to it actually being on a screen, in fact most of them are. Most of the time the script is written (which can take years) and then it takes ages for it to be picked up and get financed. It also then takes ages to put everything together to shoot it, getting the right crew and cast etc.
also yes you can absolutely write, direct and produce an indie movie as one person, and you can fund it yourself if you have enough money and it’s small. Then obviously there’s other roles like lighting technicians, actors, casting agents and makeup people etc. nobody is pretending or saying she’s do the whole thing by herself. said, or if a movie is expensive/large you have cofunders and coproducers alongside you (but she’d still be writing, or producing and directing). As you mentioned that’s all hard, and it takes ages generally.
Stephen took over a decade to get Perks made.

Anonymous said...

From the very first draft of the script it often takes years and years regardless of who you are. The public don’t see most of work and time that goes into a movie. The black list scripts often take years to get picked up. Even big movies like Barbie went through several studios and production hell before it actually got made, some of the people dropped in and out (Greta Gerwig etc), but the main people pushing it were there from the beginning. Damian Chazelle had years to get LaLaLand off the ground, Whiplash even got made before it. Del Toro spent about 15 years wanting to make Pinocchio. Darren Arronsky toyed with and was continually tweaking Noah but couldn’t get funding so worked on other stuff before it.
Emma is telling the truth. Fair play to her for wanting to be involved in projects from the outset and wanting to write them or produce them etc
Also great and funny video

Anonymous said...

"lol that's not how it works unless you are Scorsese or Spielberg"

Um... do you realize how many writers, producers, AND directors have come and said that films DO take years to make even if they're established in their respective fields already? Especially if you're a newcomer to that aspect of the industry. She never said that it was easy, she simply said that it would be something she would like to do. Also, indie filmmakers do all three things by themselves. Sure it isn't a huge multi-million production, but isn't some far-fetched thing that nobody has ever done before either.

dabo said...

"That’s not what I took from it at all. Being excited to write, produce and direct projects in which she might also star does not automatically exclude her from acting in the projects of others. It’s not an either or. Why do people read in negativity that isn’t there."

Or you're just way too optimistic.

It's Emma, she has become extremely picky. Take everything what she says with a pinch of salt.

Anonymous said...

I'm failing to see where she explicitly says that writing/directing and producing are easy tasks to do, especially by herself. It was just a simple comment on what she would like to do someday. And you dismissing indie Filmmakers who write produce AND direct their own projects isn't cute. Not everything has to be a multi-million production or even star-studded to be a good movie.

Anonymous said...

Of course, what she does is to ramble on about her career to avoid saying that she is doing absolutely nothing.
She has nothing concrete, nor is she looking forward to directing a movie but she liked to insinuate that she is and that is very annoying for her fans who are waiting for a new project in vain.

She says and says and says but nothing happens... what do we get? A video making drinks? Are you serious?

She should come clean once and for all and stop being so ambiguous. She's clearly NOT working as an actress, she's not auditioning, she's not taking offers, she's not reading scripts and she's completely interested in being in British Vogue every three months doing this kind of things to promote alcohol.
Is this really what Emma Watson has become?

I hope Eden doesn't censor me again for sharing my disappointment. I think we wounded fans have a right of expression too.

Eden said...

"I hope Eden doesn't censor me again for sharing my disappointment. I think we wounded fans have a right of expression too."

I don't mind people sharing their disappointment, I'm disappointed too. What sucks is when you talk as if you know exactly what she's doing, or rather not doing, just because you don't see anything with her name on it. How on earth would you know whether she's auditioning or reading scripts? I'd love for Emma to be more open with what she's doing career-wise, but she never was in her 24 years in the industry, so I don't understand why people are still expecting her to be.

Anonymous said...

You have a right of expression, you don't have a right to her career. She can do what she wants with her life, at the pace she wants.

Anonymous said...

,,She says and says and says but nothing happens... what do we get? A video making drinks? Are you serious?''

Actually I'd love another that kind of video. I think Renais open doors for new audience to get to know her. In my home wine is also an inportant thing and I'm happy that I can talk with my dad about Emma doing drinks coctail

Anonymous said...

Friendly reminder that the first five years of ANY company is make it or break it. So it would make sense that she's pushing Renais so hard. You do realize that if she doesn't promote it then nobody probably will? Besides as one of the founders, her main focus IS to make sure her company does well to keep her employees paid and keep revenue up. Also as a current muse for a luxury fashion brand her doing brand-related content and posts is the bare minimum of her contract. Therefore unless you are one of her brain cells how in the actual hell would you know what her thoughts towards acting/writing or producing are? On top of currently being a student, most projects are being delayed due to the writers/actors strike. Her doing partnership videos/content with Vogue is a good of keeping her name out there while simultaneously promoting two brands at the same time.

Anonymous said...

"She should come clean for once and stop being so ambiguous"

So did some of you conveniently forget about COVID-19 and the writer/actors strike or something? Because I think some of you don't realize how backlogged the industry is because of those three separate events. Not only that but I could easily make an hour-long PowerPoint on how much needs to go right for anything you see on your screen to get there in the first place. Especially how much time money and effort goes into everything assuming it will even get released in the first place. Yes, even the 11-minute video you're complaining about. Besides she's by doing this video and similar content, she's keeping her name out there. The way I see it, she's garnered views/revenue for Vogue's YouTube channel, Prada AND Renais. You know Renais... the company she's one of the founders of, that CLEARLY she cares deeply about. Since she was a teenager she's always said she doesn't see herself sticking to one thing only, but instead branching out and exploring multiple avenues. And she has stated as such multiple times. And I know she's been around for the better part of two decades, but some of y'all are way too comfortable projecting your own wants onto her. So, no we don't know whether or not she's been reading scripts or auditioning. However, it's also not our place to pretend to know what she's up to either.

Anonymous said...

I mean, what do you want from her? From 9 years old, she has been working, studying, and collaborating with top productions, movies, actors, directors. Let her do whatever she wants. She doesn't owe anything to anyone.I didn't grow up with Harry Potter, but with another series where the actors, like Emma, were growing up on screen. The protagonist, at 22, also studied to become a director and everything. But at the 30 suddenly, she left everything and is now living in isolation. We don't know if she's alive or not, only some news from her friends. Do you know how difficult that is? Emma did great. If she wanted, she could have left and not given any responses or appeared on screen. But she tries to become better, expand her knowledge, and this requires time. She's not a machine or a doll, she's human.

There are more comments disagreeing with the person but it's starting to feel like ganging up on someone. It's my fault. I left after publishing the comment so it looked like no one had answered it.

Anonymous said...

Covid and the strikes are excuses.

Every actor/director/producer are still working.

You guys talk like she hasn't had years of being very erratic with her career, even before COVID.

I remind you that Little Women was finished filming in 2018.

Anyway, I won't comment anymore because there are a lot of blind people here when it comes to her.

The reality out there is that she is not considered a serious actress, in fact she is labeled as a bad actress and has years of saying she does this and that and there is nothing (at least nothing relevant).

Maybe it's my fault for expecting too much.

Greetings to all!

Eden this person is clearly just wanting an argument. That’s not opinions, it’s just whining for a response. Stop feeding it. That’s why most people are pushing back, not piling on. People will happily take opinions but not someone on a rant for attention for themselves.

Anonymous said...

It’s again going to look like nobody is answering to the above. Honestly as I said previously that person is just unhappy with themselves. I’d delete the whole thing

Anonymous said...

Theres a difference between facts/reality and what is just in YOUR OWN HEAD honey… stop being confused between the two and making out like your opinion is factual.

This person does this repeatedly in other sections of the blog as well. And continually causes as problem by implying their view isn’t an opinion but is reality, and the only correct thing. It’s a pattern of behavior. Disagreement is fine but they deliberately sour things.

Anonymous said...

Respectfully - I don’t think it’s the rest of us that are “blind”…

Eden - this is just indulging someone who wants to rant

Anonymous said...

And you’ve done the exact same thing again

Anonymous said...

Most of us aren’t blind thanks for your concern

Anonymous said...

So they can spout lots of wild theories like it’s fact but we don’t have a right of reply??? I get stopping ganging up but that’s protecting unreasonable comments??

Eden said...

"Eden this person is clearly just wanting an argument."

I don't think so. I think they have this idea of what an actor's life should be like and Emma's like "nah", and maybe they don't get it. They also don't seem to understand that some of us are happy with a "it is what it is" kind of mindset with Emma's career and don't focus on our disappointments when something's announced but doesn't happen. Patience is key in Emma's fandom XD

Eden said...

"So they can spout lots of wild theories like it’s fact but we don’t have a right of reply???"

5 people's replies were published though. I just thought they had made enough arguments.

Anonymous said...

They don’t seem to understand the film industry at all, and make out like they do. I think they are likely very young and naive, and maybe just don’t see the nonsense in their argument? Trying to give benefit of the doubt

Anonymous said...

What you don't understand she is not just actor. She have the opportunity to choose what she wants to do without agreeing of doing works that probably are going to do worse to her personally and also in the career. Good for her. There is not just one road, she is too intelligent to be able to balance her life the way that she wants. Just because she is not doing what everyone else does or she is not doing what you think she has to do with her career/life doesn't mean that is wrong.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they don’t understand that just because it’s not on Instagram or TikTok that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening? Most of movie making and peoples careers happen off the screen and in public view.
But it’s painting their opinion as fact as others have said that’s getting me. That’s deluded behaviour.

Anonymous said...

It bring a very young person is a good shout.

i think you should consider the no negative comments till a week later on posts idea eden? by that time new posts will be out and no one will care about older negative comments and it will stop such needles debates and anger

And hopefully now back to the joyous and unexpected video

i think half of this is same person talking to themselves for to cause drama

Anonymous said...

Last time I checked, Emma was back in school taking classes for creative writing. She also has directed for Prada and renais while making relationships and connections with other artists and famous people. She has been pretty active the past couple of years. Just because she doesn’t share her life publicly doesn’t mean she isn’t doing anything. Also she doesn’t need in another movie ever again and I’ll be fine. She’s already had one of the best career for an actress to ever have and she’s still young that she could something she’s actually passionate about.

Blood Prince said...

That’s it! Detention for all of you!

"i think you should consider the no negative comments till a week later on posts idea eden? by that time new posts will be out and no one will care about older negative comments and it will stop such needles debates and anger"

But I like discussions. Only allowing one-sided opinions doesn't sound interesting to me.

"That’s it! Detention for all of you!"

The voice of reason! I'll send myself to detention too.

Anonymous said...

I don’t mind disagreeing or negativity. I just don’t like one person making out they are right and that’s the only option (and also that they know her thoughts when they clearly don’t). That’s extremely annoying and unnecessary. Happy for you to cut those comments, which I think is one person out. But otherwise healthy debate is good for everyone

Anonymous said...

Not to be that person... but since Emma was a teenager she expressed her interests in different fields of work and discover what they're like... So I'm genuinely surprised that anybody is actually mad that she stuck to her word.

Anonymous said...

The reason Emma hasn’t been in a movie recently because she was locked in Eden’s basement during the pandemic

Anonymous said...

"Um... do you realize how many writers, producers, AND directors have come and said that films DO take years to make even if they're established in their respective fields already?" Yes years, not decades that's a big difference and i'm not dimissing indie movies because i love them, i'm just saying that unless you are someone with a great career and reputation like Scorsese the film industry doesn't greenlight projects that take many time to develope, specially now that 90% of movies made are sequels, remakes and adaptations. The studios want easy money, not creativity anymore

I wanted to sum up and comment on what I found the most important:

"From 9 years old, she has been working, studying, and collaborating with top productions, movies, actors, directors. Let her do whatever she wants. She doesn't owe anything to anyone."
True. It's HER life. And I agree, I think she has always tried to be productive.

"Especially how much time money and effort goes into everything assuming it will even get released in the first place. Yes, even the 11-minute video you're complaining about."
True. People just see a 11min video, but don't realize what work has to be done in the background! Well, I'd say: then do on your own, and you might realize.

"Emma did great. If she wanted, she could have left and not given any responses or appeared on screen. But she tries to become better, expand her knowledge, and this requires time. She's not a machine or a doll, she's human."
Very well said! ❤️❤️

About the person maybe just wanting an argument:
"I don't think so. I think they have this idea of what an actor's life should be like and Emma's like "nah", and maybe they don't get it."
100%, Eden.

Did someone notice the subtitle-'explanation' in the vogue-video while Emma crushed the ice with the shoe?

"Emma banging ice with shoe"

I feel like there's a funny linguistical ambiguity. 🤣🙈 The choice of this verb might be a bit 'unfortunate'... 🤣🤣🤣 🙈🙈 😊

Her highly visible passion during this "banging" (🤣🙈) reminds me a bit of Bamm-Bamm Rubble of the Flintstones! He always did the same way! 😊

It is very big weird to police the career of a celebrity like you have some stake in it. And even more weird to bring that energy to a fun video like this.

Creatives are not under any obligation to regularly produce content for your consumption. Once they are financially comfortable in our gross and exploitative system, they have the freedom to make art whenever they like, and however they like.

Just enjoy the charming person making cocktails and be glad she still wants to create and perform. Or enjoy their previous work and go touch some grass.

Anonymous said...

"the film industry doesn't greenlight projects that take many time to develop"

That's where you're getting it wrong. Movies have 4 stages, development by the production company (before they get greenlighted by studios or financiers), pre-production, production and post-production. Most movies spend most of their time in development and pre-production.
