21st september will be on Netflix a documentary The Real Bling Ring. In the trailer is little scene with Emma and I read on blog about misogynist comments Emma about her character in the movie Bling Ring. In my opinion misogyny is a strong word and I don't think Emma's comments are like that. She described her character in the movie which was only partly based on a real person and script was written by Sofia Coppola so Emma didn't decide how her character is or not. My question is what do you think about that Eden? Do you think Emma is really misogynist? (I read that opinion on another blog, personally I don't think so) and do you think in that documentary will be part where Emma will be baned about what she said in 2013?

"Hi Eden, your images seem to be of lower resolution recently"

It's on purpose so it's faster to upload on the blog. I have the gallery blog for high resolution but I haven't updated it in a while. I'll try to take care of it this weekend.

"Do you think Emma is really misogynist?"

Of course not.

"do you think in that documentary will be part where Emma will be baned about what she said in 2013?"

No clue.

"Eden this guy proposed up on my Instagram account as suggested for me"

Wrong Toby. Looks nothing like him.

"New photos! She's at a Kering Dinner... and obviously you're sleeping xD"

XD They started being released at almost 2am, I wasn't even given a chance to be able to post them on time.

Emma said some cringe stuff about other women when she was younger i think she grew out of it and regrets it now the person she based her character in bling ring on was very troubled damaged young woman who was not happy with how Emma spoke about her i think its okay for them to tell their side

"no brandon at her kering dinner either? hmmm"

She never invites her boyfriends to these things.

As I said, it's not a family member, just someone with the same name.

Emma is a paradox she admits it through this whole ad campaign I think people need to pay more attention she knows she acts different in real life to how her image is and talking in such a mean way about the lady from the bling ring true story is one example

Wrong Toby. Looks nothing like him

So what does he look like i thought her looks like her can you post a picture

The only photos of him at a public event I'd be willing to share if I know where to find them date from more than 10 years ago.

her family are not public figures lets leave them alone

"Emma said some cringe stuff about other women when she was younger..."

She really said things about women that contradicts her 'image'. When people said that 'her image was built on tearing other women' may sound way too far but tbh it has merit. It's disappointing how she chose to keep silent and not address her prejudices prior to coming out as a feminist. Her comment about the character is one thing. Funny how people, esp fans, tolerate such and always resort to "she's just a human, she makes mistakes' whenever someone raises the issue.

"they were not happy with the way Emma talks about them"

Why stealing in the first place? the fact that they were brave enough to show their faces in public after those scandal really says a lot about their characters tho

Alexis had drug addiction they are not stealing for fun the way the movie showed it was a really brutal existence for her back then and the bling ring movie did not treat her with humanity but rather made her a parody of a valley girl

to be honest when I watched the movie I had no idea that Emma's character was based (partly) on the real person. So for me Nicki it's not a parody, but a character in the movie

You don't get it. It's not about the 'talking bad about stealing' but more on what she said about her character, which was based from a real-life person. She should have been more sensitive about talking about her character since the said person was going thru something. The characters and the movie were off with the real events, which resulted to people only focusing about 'stealing' and having skewed comments, just like with what you said.

"Alexis had drug addiction they are not stealing for fun the way the movie showed it was a really brutal existence for her back then and the bling ring movie did not treat her with humanity but rather made her a parody of a valley girl"

I agree with what anon said. Alexis not only called out Emma but the entire film as well.

i will say the directors and writers are more at fault than emma for editing down the story to a hollwood fantasy rather than the dark true story of what actually happens typical Hollywood tbh

Anonymous said...

They committed crimes and im sure went to prison or pay fines or whatever so were already punished but now filmmakers want to create a misrepresented version of events to make money off it so it was pretty weird thing to do,
i dont like anyone involved in the real life bling ring story but they seem like broken damaged people who should still be treated like real people and not a joke even if they are bad people the subject should be taken seriously just my view

Again, Alexis frustration was directed to the film (director/writers) bc of how the movie was made. The issue involving Emma is more on what she SAID (like during interviews) about her character, which were insentive, esp for someone who came out as a feminist years after.

and it's not like she said about character not real person? I mean she described Nicki not Alexis, she described character which was written by Sofia. No offense to anyone, just loose thought

This is one of the interviews where she gave comments that I can quickly find.

"... and Sofia Coppola has even made a movie out of her story, also called The Bling Ring—Emma Watson is playing a role based partially on Alexis, and the actress has described the character as “superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral. She’s all of these things and I realized I hated her.” " (vice.com)

Even if her comments are mainly directed to her character, the fact that it was not just any other character but one that was based from a real person. Plus, regardless if it was meant for the character or the real person, we can't deny that her comments are disturbing. She could have expressed these in a more sensitive and professional manner.

The thing is that The Bling Ring movie never claimed to be a true crime documentary in the first place. From the start, it was promoted as a satirical crime drama loosely based on a book dealing with real-life events. While yes the events in the said book did happen in real life, the characters weren't an exact representation of the real-life participants of the Bling Ring. Also, Emma herself never says anything about Alexis's real-life character or personality in any interview, all her comments are about Nikki a character that is loosely based on her from the outside looking in point of view. I understand that Alexis has changed now, but Emma never made any comments directed at her or about her either. There's been other movies with the same premise for example Blonde (2022) starring Ana de Armas which is a fictionalized take on Marilyn Monroe's life. The movie doesn't represent how Marilyn was in real life much like the Bling Ring movie doesn't represent their characters like their real-life counterparts either.

I'm agree.

Also when I watched the movie say to my mate something like 'OMG I hate Nicki, she is so spoiled, materialistic'. So following your line of thought I hate Alexis too? Nah, I don't think so. I'm talking about character in the movie which isn't a documentary
