When Sofia Coppola was asked why she chose Emma for the role of Nicki, she answered:
"Simply because, when I met her, she had a clever approach of the character. And because I liked the idea of seeing this soft and innocent face playing a delinquent. People are impatient to see her play another type of role, as a character different from the one in Harry Potter. This movie shows that she can really do other things."
